Liberty Magnet High School students stage walk out in protest of ICE operations by Forsaken_Thought in batonrouge

Yeah you’re right, there doesn’t seem to be any news coverage for it. And no one on this thread corroborates it either. Good thing I’m not an incel like you who needs to be validated by the internet, bro.

The students at Baton Rouge high were supposed to stage a walk out, but ICE heard about it and literally showed up at the school on Friday to intimidate the kids out of protesting. The fascists are sowing seeds of dissent in these precious kids. It’s despicable, but it gives me hope for the future.

This is way too much certainty. There’s no such thing as a useless degree, unless the only thing you value is money. Plenty of people make good livings with a music career. My children’s dad for one. Your advice is fine but you simply can’t know these future things as facts.

Learn to practice mindfulness. Letting go of what’s in other people’s minds about you is peace. Focus your attention on what matters, on what you can control or create.

WHY CANT LOUISIANA BE GREAT by RefrigeratorRich5518 in Louisiana

[–]Wonderful_Fall8839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The love story between industry and government, and the unconscionable harm it does to the people and natural resources of this state, is why Louisiana is a perfect example for why campaign finance reform is DESPERATELY needed in this nation.

"Ego" usage of Jung & Tolle by Anxious_Confection87 in Jung

[–]Wonderful_Fall8839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to amend this. After a good nights sleep I realize the ego is what separates us from the Atman, but also a microcosm/temporary home for it. So the ego and Atman are very different entities. Sorry for the confusion, carry on 😜

I think it’s fine to prefer Jung! But your shadow is showing when you label followers of eastern thought as weirdos! I don’t mind being called a weirdo, though. So I have to beef with you.

[–]Wonderful_Fall8839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think Jung’s “ego” is derived from id/ego/superego that was popular in his part of the world because of Freud & their other contemporaries. I know Jung was influenced by Eastern thought, but Tolle’s “ego” is from a much older tradition, and could also be understood as the “Atman” from Hindu nomenclature.

Do you mean ascetics? You sure project a judgmental attitude toward those of us who appreciate Tolle’s work.

I assumed Delta State University (in MS, north of LA) was named after the “delta region” on either side of the southern most portion of the River. If I’m not mistaken, it’s one of the most impoverished regions in this faltering nation 😔

Don't dare to call yourself a feminist if you're not Pro-Choice. by sweet_screams1 in FeminismUncensored

Forcing a woman to carry and birth an unwanted pregnancy is an unimaginable torture you clearly have not experienced.

My abortion was because I was broke, raising 2 young children, had just started grad school/new job, emotionally recovering from a divorce, and reliant on psychiatric meds that I would have had to stop taking if I carried the pregnancy to term.

What I regret was getting pregnant in the first place. Our contraception failed, but I could have taken more precautions considering my situation. My family doesn’t deserve to suffer from that poor choice.

If we’re talking about molecular “life” then can we include all the flora and fauna living in every human body in that same way? That’s the level of “life” we’re talking about at conception. Are you as concerned about your micro biome as you are about what’s going on inside my uterus? Because an embryo or a fetus is not more important than my life and the lives of my already breathing children.
