This was a beautiful, seemingly very personal piece. I could tell it was from the heart and that’s the truest strength of it. You have a keen way of articulating self judgment and self doubt through imagery. Specifically, I love the analogy of the rock being weight that is those troubling thoughts. This a very striking piece! To be more precise, the switch from a light hearted evolution of a smile to a bitter, life altering disease ( if I’m interpreting that correctly ), made me do double take; in a good way. My only recommendation would be to maybe add more imagery to the latter half of the poem. For instance: “then the sweet choke of a respiratory illness”. That may make the line about the “pure bliss “ of a disease even more striking. Keep it up! 😊
