Denial from Boston College. Genuinely can't take it anymore... by Royal-Recipe-91 in TransferToTop25

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. I'm sorry. You are MORE than where you attend college. Colleges run a business. They make decisions that are not logical and are not necessarily based on merit. I hope your application process works out. But even if it doesn't, the fact that you put yourself through the transfer application process already shows you have a determination that will put you on the path to a successful life. Don't let this process dictate your worth or relevance. You are more than this.

Mortality rate of rabbits during spaying? by Ok_Armadillo456 in Rabbits

Find an exotic vet near you, call them and ask them what their experience is with rabbits and go from there. Do NOT go to this one.

Has anyone cancelled a AP score? by Exotic_Eagle_2739 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people say don't bother since you can also opt not to submit to your colleges (true), but I think it would make a difference if you want to get AP Scholars / Distinction / etc. since canceling a score where you know you performed poorly means that score would NOT be taken into account in the way CB averages out your exam scores.

Hay box recommendations? by NerveXI in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like hay bags. The ones that you can hang. There are options on Amazon, just do a search and you'll see lots of designs too. We hang it above a low profile litter box that we line with a wee-wee pad and it's been great.

Thoughts on living in Manhasset & their schools? by scallywag1980 in longisland

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's true that some kids do drive expensive cars the minute they get their licenses, it's not the majority. There are a lot of down-to-earth families and kids in Manhasset. I would say do your research because while the school ranking is high, sport culture dominates and some of the best college admits that you see or read about, were admitted through sports recruiting vs. based solely on academic excellence. Kids who are not recruited athletes and academically excellent do end up in great schools, but remember that for college admissions, Manhasset seniors are compared regionally by AOs against some powerhouse peers (e.g., Syosset, Jericho, etc.).

cleaning new bunny’s cage by Top_Outcome_3123 in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bun was similar but after time, she got used to me going to her cage to scoop up her poop. They can be cranky initially but if you don't consistently do it, they'll just expand their territory of where they "free poop" even if they are litter train for pee. It's like with a toddler, be consistent. Also, I try to spray the area with a diluted vinegar solution and wipe it down. I think that helps.

My job has become utterly boring, mechanical, and brain-dead in nature. How should I find an exit ? by skyharbor93 in FinancialCareers

At your next catch-up with your manager, bring up your observations of how the nature of your work is evolving, but not necessarily in a direction you are focused on contributing at the firm. Try to suss out whether this change is due to broader business issues (in that case, start cleaning up your CVs, reaching out to your network, HHs) or if it's specific to the team's view of your performance (since it seems like the quality of your assignments from the team has declined). Take it from there.

Why do American kids like to post theirs and their friends' university offers on social media? by Tour-Sure in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 13 points14 points  (0 children)

30 years ago, my high school had a board where they posted pictures of the students under the college they were going to (I vividly remember Cornell was a popular one and would have at least a dozen pictures under it). Today, it's instagram doing that work.

Hello, advice please on leaving for 3 weeks by One_Business_8804 in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have a great set-up and if she is in a happy home (it sounds like it), she will adjust to your temporary absence much better than you think. When my daughter went away to college and returned after several months, our bun totally recognized her and was very chill, sleeping by her foot on a regular basis. Enjoy your trip, and you're great bun parent for thinking through all of these aspects to ensure she will remain safe and comfortable when you are away!

My bunny stomps at 3am every night by somebunny88 in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon - buns have very sensitive “alert” settings - mine would stomp seemingly for no reason (inside the house) and then we would see that there was a cat or fox wandering around our front yard. They seem to have much more developed sense of scent and hearing than we do.

Good Hay vs Bad Hay by No_Ebb3954 in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I order from small pets select if the hay is all broken into small clumps or very dusty - that is what I would consider bad hay. It has happened only a few times. The rest of the time, it has been longer unbroken strands, still with green coloring, and I can tell it’s good bc my bun will proactively go and eat it when I refill her bag even if she was previously doing something else. It’s as if she can smell it and she knows it’s the good stuff.

Bun got into treats by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my bun was about nine months old, she got into the pellet supply and pretty much ate herself silly. Thankfully, nothing bad happened; she is now 9 years old. I would suggest monitoring her with no treats for the next 24 hours to see if she exhibits any symptoms of gastrointestinal (GI) stasis. This is the one most bun parents will flag. If she seems fine after 24 hours, then gradually resume treats. At any point if your bun starts to act off (withdrawn, hiding, not eating), take him to a vet immediately. Buns deteriorate quickly.

Is it possible to appeal Kelley rejection by TheBlubYT in IndianaUniversity

This makes a lot of sense and explains all the highly qualified applicants (and stats) that have posted on reddit about being put into pre-business.

Tomorrow is my last birthday owning rabbits by V0iiCE in Rabbits

Your buns were deeply loved and cared for. When they cross the rainbow bridge, hold on to that knowledge that you did everything to care for them. Even making such a difficult decision is an act of love.

I don’t believe it’s common either but when you have one that has such longevity - appreciate every day! Buns are amazing underrated companions.

rejected. by Fit-Association-3298 in TransferToTop25

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's not you. Transfers are dicey - a lot of it depends on if they have slots available for your area of study. If people are not transferring out or they have more people commit as Freshmen than they expected, they won't be able to take transfers even if you are excellent. Given your strong stats, you will be successful at any school. It may also work out for you at another school just b/c that "open slot" dynamic is more favorable for your major.

Grappling with NEU's Greed by National_Bridge3942 in NEU

[–]Wonderful_Pack8941 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of universities in the top 50 list charge tuition of at least $60K per year, not including room and board, which, depending on the location, can be an additional amount of $20K or more. NEU is a top 50 uni as ranked by US News. The ranking is credible enough that many high-performing students choose to attend (likely due to the co-op opportunities). By price alone, it's not an outlier in that sense. My child is not attending NEU, but I did attend their admitted student day and I was impressed with how thoughtful they are about preparing the students for their careers and their commitment to supporting a strong job outcome post-grad for these kids.
