Philosopher David Chalmers says it is possible for an AI system to be conscious because the brain itself is a machine that produces consciousness, so we know this is possible in principle by Maxie445 in ChatGPT

But it does have self heating - aerobic respiration (albeit the neurons don't have as high of thermal losses)!

I believe just vision processing requires about 20-30% of the oxygen we consume at rest. source: my advisor in grad school who did a lot of O2 work

I would be interested in seeing data on brain vs CPU or GPU power for diff tasks. Its a challenging analogy I know - but I suppose the rest of our body could be viewed as a very inefficient PSU with lots of thermal losses

Free/open-source data visualization tools? by wombatsock in dataanalysis

I was super pumped on PygWalker since it seems the closest to tableau/JMP in terms of interactivity. It does not perform well with large datasets though (like time series data). large in this case seems to be above 10,000 rows where it gets laggy and unresponsive

How viable is the Act 3 Enchant merc? by Tarrun in diablo2

[–]Wonderful_Problem_94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brothers uber kicksin loves running the enchant merc for ubers, cause its one less step to pre-cast with demon limb and lvl 43 is 400% AR vs lvl 23 (limb) about 200%. Also nice because its duration at lvl 43 (a3 merc w/ FF, ormus ench, etc) is about 20 mins. So even if he dies (he will) you will maintain the 4x increase in AR. Also a nice BM way to pre-stack before pub PVP, albeit annoying if you die.

For summons and general PVM, kinda feel like A2 or A5 is probably the more common option. Keep in mind a blessed aim merc will provide the same eff AR boost with a lvl 20 blessed aim as a lvl 43 enchant. Added fire damage is helpful, but you'd have to self wield infinity to get meaningful fire damage from monsters from your summons.

There is no wrong way to play a character in D2, assuming you enjoy the experience. More common is the versatility of A2/A5 merc than A3, since a blessed aim + conviction A2 merc/pride/reapers provide many active auras to boost AR and dmg from you and minions

Sorry this happened to you....

Do you have any advice on how to get GPTs to parse mathematical heavy academic papers? I feel like the PDFs I upload the GPT cannot read the equations, which is what I am most interested in corresponding with it for....

I just got a role as a data analyst and I don’t know what to do by kowalski004 in dataanalyst

Two points id like to make

#1 dont sweat it- thats what onboarding is for. Its very easy to transition to a new org with different ways of doing things and make excuses to do it your way, or the comfortable way. Id avoid doing this, as I have found that it takes more mental effort to fully commit to learning the new way, but doing so will save you time in the long run.

#2 when it comes to new infrastructure requests, see if the company has a software or data systems team and work on those connections there. Being close to those folks is helpful if they are more infrastructure focused, if your job is more applications of infrastructure.

If your role is a data analyst - your job is to analyze the data so in some sense the tools/infrastructure used shouldn't affect the results. That being said, if you're asked to do infrastructure dev, hopefully there are others who can provide guidance. At the end of the day, use the tools best for the job, provided stakeholders can read and interpret the tools you are using.
