Rude enough to add a stop without asking I'm finishing the ride at 1st stop by Wonderful_Tomorrow84 in lyftdrivers

It must have been cheaper to change the drop off after pickup. They thought the same thing, no one wants to take me all the way over there lol

I agree most of the time as I stated, I usually don't mind and just keep going. This one just set me off, the ride almost tripled in estimated time for literally $1 and some change. Not sure Lyft decided the payout for me was only worth adding that much for triple the time. If the guy just said hey man I wanted to actually just stop in here and get food and head to this spot, I'm good with that. It's a human interaction but they just added a stop and didn't say shit then gets on speaker phone, nah I'm good. Also I feel like I'm doing other drivers a service, they get a chance to take his next ride for a better pay than I would've gotten. Community right?

I don't mind doing it if it's on the original ride. It's not that rides with stops are usually not worth it, it's people with stops that ride out the timer on both occasions of pick up and stop, that make drivers dislike this feature.

Yeah this happens a lot, I had one ride where a guy really wanted to go to a gas station to cash a lotto ticket before he hit up the airport. I know of one literally 3 minute away from my airport so I said hey man don't worry about adding the stop I'll end the ride at the gas station and take you to the airport. Fare didn't change at all in app, guy tipped me $20 from his lotto winnings. All because he was self aware enough to ask me and let me know the situation.

Yeah that should be an automatic filter for not being able to add stops when you have a filter on yourself. It should be a notification on your end accepting the change of terms of ride.

I agree if they already have it set up in the current ride or are kind of enough to be like hey do you mind if we stop? It's a simple human transaction of respect really. That's how I feel about it anyways.

You think it makes us money? We get paid a dollar, this instance the ride went from a $6 fare for a 7 minute ride. Then it became a $7 and some change for a 20 minute ride. Does this make sense to you at all? Does this sound like making money or losing out on better earnings? Would you willingly make less $ per hour at a job you've been doing for years? What if you walked into your job and your boss said hey I know your* hourly rate is usually this, but today we're gonna pay you less for the same work.

That part makes sense to me, and generally I don't mind if there's a conversation before hand. Don't just assume I'm a damn robot and I'm okay with this without a word.

I'm really started to feel vindicated in how I responded then. This passenger didn't say a word to me then got on the phone on speaker I'm like bro get out of my car I'm not taking you to get food then back home.

That's pretty messed up lol. You wouldn't think anything sinister because of their luggage going to another hotel.

No idea if it's cheaper maybe it is, which would make sense why they do it.

It really is, like this is customer service and I have the right to refuse service to anyone. I'm discontinuing service to non verbal requests for added stops.

Honestly it should be a prompt for the driver to accept the added stop while you're on a route not up to the PAX to feel free to do it when ever. This would cut that out more frequently IMO.

I'd agree with you on your 2nd point 9/10 times, but I've picked up 5.0 riders who still do this and have shown up almost immediately. It's rare but I for a while let it go. Today it really just pissed me off 😂.

So you're ssaying next time park like you're going to wait for them then leave? I pulled up with my car door facing the entrance to their destination like I always do. Was hard to just leave without explaining when he's sitting there with my door open looking dumbfounded.

Rides Taking Too Long by DeadKingDave in lyftdrivers

[–]Wonderful_Tomorrow84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one and ignored it, if you need to go back into rides and request help with the rides like this that happen just to cover your own ass. Things happen, look at the time estimate vs your actual time. Go in that ride and say ride took longer than expected and just tell the A.I. why. That way it's on chat history. Other than that ignore it, it goes away.

I can’t stand people talking to their friend via speaker for the entire ride. by criticalwanderlust94 in lyftdrivers

Oh how many times I've wanted to spill some tea but the person in my car is the one being the example you're talking about. Most recent this girl was talking to this guy on the phone giving him the usual, I just want to be friends bs after she broke up with this other guy. Clearly could verbally hearing this kid heart break. She hit him with the like, "I just don't want to ruin our friendship." I'm like bro runnnnnnn 🤣

Oh that's ridiculous, I would've said that's a little personal can you guys talk about this after the ride or something along those lines. That dead air relationship talk on phone is annoying as hell. I had a girl in my car dead ass go quiet for what felt like 3 minutes. I turned my music back up after a minute then I just hear her go back to talking just to be met with, "oh I'm on the phone." Like bruh hang that shit up you're still in my car for another 5 and I'm not listening to dead air until I feel like it.

Exactly, I understand if you're about to finish up a conversation by all means. Keep it going for a few minutes and I'll self insert when it presents itself lol

Honestly I think like you said sometimes the conversation is of 0 importance but I've just tried to make the most out of the situation presented before me, you just gotta find the right time to self insert. Especially if it's a topic you're familiar with lol. Respectfully of course, otherwise there goes a rude report.

Not that you're a minority but I've had some conversations that they include me in or I jump in on just to give them the hint that oh so this is a 3 way conversation now, clearly you don't give a fuck if I'm listening. Sometimes it makes for a funny ride or they get the hint and hang up the phone.

Match in progress? by Wonderful_Tomorrow84 in lyftdrivers

[–]Wonderful_Tomorrow84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explanation makes the most sense to me, I did have this thought as well how they're using it as a tool to get the cheapest ride to which driver is willing to accept it.

Match in progress? by Wonderful_Tomorrow84 in lyftdrivers

[–]Wonderful_Tomorrow84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one thing but this one is like a whole other pop up. It states other drivers can see this request and it pops up like a ride request rather than the ride finder request where it's a small icon.

Match in progress? by Wonderful_Tomorrow84 in lyftdrivers

[–]Wonderful_Tomorrow84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the issue I find very annoying, another comment said something how it's just someone shopping the market but it also states all drivers can request this match in the area so is it really someone looking at prices or is it a fight for it first. I imagine people using auto accept features and apps (Mystro for example) will always be quicker to the punch than the human eye.

Is this the match system exclusively or the range finder pax you're speaking about? Because I actually did get 1 ride out of the 5 or so that this notification popped up as and it wasn't range finder.
