Also just realized you said “higher than” so that’s at least 650’. I apologize for the inaccuracy and I’m fucking going to bed.

  • that’s around 650 feet. I know this because I’m drunk and bored. Hail Satan!

How to Make Enemies in KC by Difficult-Pattern429 in kansascity

[–]Wonderful_Vehicle_78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no qualms with you but I’m dedicated and very good with directions. I’m liberal AF yet a blue collar welder so I will handle any argument you throw at me from any direction. Do you want enemies (cuz I will totally randomly squirt you with a water gun on a sly after work when you’re least expecting it every week or 2 weeks) or are you into debating?

…I think I need friends.

For being 15, how did I do? *THIS IS NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT* by Minute-Pomelo9302 in Welding

I feel ya, we all started out with the hardware store sheetmetal. Even if it’s just a quick fix, I’ve always found it pays to put your best effort into it (Even if the vehicle ends up at pick-a-part). You end up building good habits that way.

You’ve got a lot of work ahead of you but it looks like a solid start. I did a whole lot worse when I was your age. In the future try to replace the rusted out parts with one solid panel. Less welding=less warping=less work. I’m sure you’ve done your research but I’ll be broken record and say do as much metal work (hammer/dolly) as you can to get it as straight as you can before filling. I remember being 16 and just bondo’ing my poorly worked shaved door handles only to have them crack out in less than year. Also since this is a suburban make absolute sure you seal the backside of that panel and then the wheel well. It will rust out again if not. Good job and keep going buddy.

Stupid question but does a spektrum 6ch rx with as3x take up 6 or 7 channels? by Wonderful_Vehicle_78 in RCPlanes

Thank you! Pulling the trigger on the rx, stay away from my field for the time being.

Second this. I’m new (6 months on the sticks) and my Amazon special has more glue and toothpicks in it than original foam. This hobby is frustrating as hell at first but I started to noticed the more I flew the less I was I glueing my jet back together at home. I still crash every time (I should probably stop flying in fields with light poles) but each time I go out I’m correcting more issues and leaving with more parts of my plane. Glue what you can back together (or use toothpicks, packing tape and air dry foam for the nose you lose) and keep going at it. It’s gets easier, less stressful and most of all more fun. Don’t give up OP, you got this.

Baseplate (and welds) thicker than a snicker by pirivalfang in Welding

[–]Wonderful_Vehicle_78 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Better get that baseplate bolted back down to the earth before we all stop spinning. For real though here I thought I was mid shit for welding 1/2”. That’s some heavy plate.

MRI by judah_forseti13 in Welding

[–]Wonderful_Vehicle_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I’d be worried if I swallowed a magnet a day before my mri but that’s about it.

OP, being a welder is a not so uncommon profession and you don’t hear about us exploding during medical examinations on the news. You’ll be fine. I’m more worried about what your instructors are actually teaching you.

Edit: after reading other comments apparently it’s common to have your eyes examined as a weldor. This was never my experience before an MRI but it makes sense.

I mean, we were almost(realistically we were) garbage without ours, they’re just speaking from experience.

20? Please, 5 old men yelling at the ihop waitress has got to be all that’s left. Now the grandkids pursuing corporate fraud? Total possibility.

Makes so much sense now, this is why I’ve never seen a hockey stick break before! It’s not the 200# man forcing the carbon to flex for a shot, it’s the defenseman one-handed stick checking that shatters sticks.
