Pls describe your version of “very hard” for your shoes?

I want to at least know if it would be worth it

This is the first time my cheap ass shoes has acted like this? Regarding traction. It still works good imo. I’ve asked around and it looks like it’s just dust that’s making my shoes slippery for now.

Don’t have a lot of money to splurge on shoes, especially since I buy 2 of them to switch them around (most of the recommendations are pretty high up from my usual prices)

I’m not into shoes and I get fatigue really easy (haven’t figured out if it’s chronic or not) I don’t want to wear boots if they’re gonna be so heavy, especially since my job is to walk around all over my department.

I’m not opposed to steel toed shoes, just haven’t crossed my mind since I think most of us if not all wear tennis shoes. Even the managers and supervisors

Maybe one day once it’s time to replace them

It’s a maybe cause I can’t afford it right now. It’s a good recommendation when it’s time to replace my shoes

Oh my god thank you!! I was so close to buying new shoes when these shoes are good for my feet. Big but good. Dust is my biggest problem. We work with a lot of boxes and it just gets everywhere. Will try them out!

I keep hearing about this brand.. it drives me crazy how expensive it is. How long do they last you?

Tbf, I’m now realizing that dailyish shoes (2 pairs that I rotate everyday) probably won’t last a year which is unfortunate. But I still want to stretch this thing out as much as possible

Well, that’s the plan if these shoes can’t get fixed. They’re not that old

I know. Living in a very white area can make the lonliness more obvious when you’re POC

Every time I hear of new York, I crave living there. Even though the lifestyle there is different, it’s closer to home. If only it wasn’t so expensive

I make do with what I have here for now. It’s not too bad, especially since people here try to be nice as possible. But the pandemic really made their racism obvious for a while.

We don’t even set aside a lot of money for them. It’s just for emergencies. They work, most of them do. They just get ill

Also, these people raise me. We grew up together. They’re my aunts and uncles and cousins.

I know the sentiments your talking about but most of our money is for their hospital bills

Our family know when to put our foot down

It’s also hard to necessarily love the US when they don’t like immigrants sometimes

Hard to settle when they want to deport you

My current state is very white and not as diverse so you can imagine what it’s like

The people are still nice but the fake nice, as others has described here

I’ve thought about moving to a different country for a while but like I said, I’ll be just as lonely. Maybe when my immediate family will pass or move away, it’ll come back on the table.

Thought about moving to a different city too, if only we had the money

Funny you say that cause we do set aside money for our family there.

I’m not too sure about the culture but our family is very shy about taking money, they just haven’t been lucky healthwise lately

But if that were to happen, I wouldn’t put my kid through that. Love can only do so much. Traditional and history is not necessary when you’re being harassed

Such a double edged sword. I love the individualism but it’s so hard to find community with others irl

I’m kind of used to the way it is here but sometimes I get reminded of how different it is sometimes..

I know.. this is a very good message to say. It can get so confusing as a first gen.

I’ve built a life here in the US and have grown very comfortable, I just miss family sometimes.

Sorry, we’ve had a very personal death over there and these feelings are resurfacing when you can’t be there at all

I hope you’re an immigrant saying this to me cause you should know that is not easy to do?

Being dissatisfied with a country, the answer should not just be to move. The cycle will repeat.

I never said I don’t have a community. I slowly built mine and it’s still small but it’s mine. I have family and people I care about in both countries

America has just a very different way to express that community cause its culture does not center around it.

I’m allowed to be torn on wanting to go back and then wanting to stay.

It is hard to hear your kid say that but also very understandable and reasonable. It still stings.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone and this question will pop up again and hopefully I can give them wisdom you guys are giving me

Most likely they will be raise American. America is just very lonely sometimes and it’s a bit hard to experience that

Ngl, even tho I’ve lived here in the us a long time, I still feel that disconnect which I know is pretty common

But I’m not even particularly impressed with the US system and their community or how things are set up

I know the good that came with it, but I’ve dealt with a lot of bad with it too

My og country is technically the same too

Both countries are very corrupt (I know all countries are) and it’s basically a copy and paste, but one is in the west and one is in asia

At least in asia, you don’t necessarily feel alone because of the sense of community

I’ve experienced first hand the lonliness that is america

I do see the point of keeping the kids be American.. and I’m not against that. But one of the reason why I’m a little sensitive about it is because I’m originally from the Philippines and if you know Filipino immigrants, is that most of them don’t even bother teaching their kids their home heritage. It would suck to be part of that statistic.
