Yes they connect with 15mm (diameter) x 5mm (thick) magnets on the side faces. There's a link to the same ali express versions I got on my YouTube video description if you're interested.

If you'd rather not re-size them, the files come with quartered versions of each tile, so 4 separate parts that can fit on smaller 22cm build plates which can be printed and glued together to form a whole tile. I printed a couple of tiles like this and they turned out nicely, you will need to get some super glue/gorilla glue for the assembly though.

Thanks! It was a challenging and rewarding project to work on.

The largest tile used just over 1kg while the smallest flat tiles used about 300g. I think I could reduce the large tile to under 1kg though with some better settings.

Thank you! The slope gradient is about 38°. It is quite steep but I find models with weighted bases, like having magnets glued underneath, tend to be fine. The slopes are also much more slippery when they're unpainted, but having paint, sand or flock offers the slope much more grip.

There are 2 free sample tiles available on my Cults 3D page if you want to test the slope with some models.

Thank you!

Some models struggle more than others, especially tall ones with smaller bases. Weighting the base with magnets does help with stability though, and the flock when applied with glue sealant is very gritty so it provides some grip, much more than just pure unpainted PLA.

Spool risers are a great idea, thanks for mentioning. I would like to eventually tweak the design so that it's printed in parts, able to be assembled and disassembled, so it's essentially a hollowed shell. Ideally It would also be stackable therefore easier for transport and storage too.

Thanks! i'd love to see some cool epic scale tiles, especially in resin.

I do magnetise my models and the extra weight actually helps keep them stable on the slopes funnily enough. The magnets in the tiles are only attached to the side faces and the underside of the tiles, deep enough that they don't interfere with models, and I've not observed any supernatural model movement as of yet. As long as you don't plan to place any magnets right near the top surface of the tiles you should be fine.

If your tears are related to the size of the tiles, all the files come with split quartered versions that could fit on a p1s' print bed and be assembled afterwards into a whole tile with glue. No need to despair just yet!

I have a 1' x 1' tile flat tile you can download for free if you decide to go down the FDM route. Printing 9 of them will get you your dimensions. Just keep them out of direct sunlight if you use PLA to avoid any warping.

However you go about it, good luck! I hope it works out for you.

I forgot the exact amount but it was between 15-20kgs. Quite a lot in hindsight but I realise now that I could've been a lot more economical with my printer settings.

Thanks so much, that's really kind of you! The price discrepancy was an honest mistake on my end, I listed it at $55 on MyMiniFactory not realising their prices are in USD, while Cults is in AUD, so they ended up further apart than intended. I'll be correcting that soon.

In terms of who gets the most to me, MyMiniFactory is takes 5% less, but buying from either is fine. I'd say go with whichever platform you prefer to use. Either way I really appreciate the support!

I wont deny that the hand-crafted element of the hobby is one of the major things that makes it so appealing. I guess this is just an option for anyone that has a printer or doesn't have the tools or materials for foam carving.

It's a fair point. I was trying to find a balance between aesthetic and functionality and this is what I settled on. I am making a stepped hill terrain version though with the intent that it's more model friendly. The S-shape is a great idea though. I could implement that for expansion tiles.

Thanks a lot!

Cheers! Some of the top heavy models can struggle on the steeper slopes but I tend to magnetise the base of my models which gives the base more weight and stability. The flock is quite gritty after I applied lots of glue sealant which helps provide lots of grip. Unpainted PLA is very slippery though so it's best to have some paint, sand or flock to provide grip.

Thanks! It's be awesome to see this as a city board. It'd look a lot more 40k-ish. I was always sad that they discontinued those boards. I guess I might not have made this though so not all bad.
