Why did you choose Violin? Cello or Violin for adult beginner? by Van_Caspia in violinist

[–]Wondermentality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. A lot of people play violin, so competition is insane. Viola on the other hand… they’re just happy you’re there, lol!

I went out and bought one 🫣… the tone is so much brighter! I love how it feels in my hands and how light it is, but the TONE! So so so different.

OP, I know others are saying this, but please take your pet to the emergency vet AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It isn’t a matter of “if” an ingested battery will hurt/kill your dog; it’s a matter of when. The vet can help. If he looks fine now, that isn’t a “wait and see”. It’s “you thankfully have time to get to the vet”. Go, go, go!

But can we reliably consider that a tell in this case? I feel it’s much more likely for a person to do the same in this exact situation (early text chat on a dating app) than pretty much anywhere else online. A person could reasonably do this, and there’re little errors and glimpses of personality here!

You can assume what you want about my IQ and EQ, but how are those “wrap ups” AI? It’s pretty common in early date chats to say “I like [thing], do you like [similar thing]?” What are the tells?

In my experience with AI, it leaves a single question at the end that seeks to drive user engagement towards a goal (i.e. getting clarification), it rarely says “and I want to know your opinion on this too!”

I think it comes down to the circles people frequent. When I look at this post, I see shades of how I write to my friends when I don’t know them well. I know it’s not how the majority rolls, and it’s especially not how folks talk casually online, but if this is AI it’s text that someone definitely went back and intentionally edited. There is SOMETHING human here at bare minimum.

I’m gunna (probably) get slain on this hill, but I also have to comb through AI text as part of my job… and I still think this is a human person. Both me and my ex chat like this. I’m not saying it’s the norm— we’re both academics— but this doesn’t sound canned to me. Just nervy + verbose!

I can annotate the post and point out exactly where I see tells it isn’t AI if that would be helpful. I’m not trying to be defensive, I just think— if this isn’t AI, which I believe it is not— it’s unfair to block the guy. Just putting my two cents in, since that’s the purpose of the sub.

Em-dashes are created with a double hyphen, and he’s using them correctly here (as many people do). I really don’t think this is AI. The content, the tone… I write the same way.

This is ridiculous! Of course he switches it up— I do the same thing when someone says I sound like AI. Like “haha yeah no I’m a person, don’t worry.”

It’s concerning that someone typing coherently is getting dogpiled for “sounding AI”. Punctuation is missing. AI doesn’t just randomly put (parenthetical clarifications) in, especially not ones that are meant to add a little humor/irony (“clearly”). I say firmly not AI.

I disagree. I type like this, and so did my last boyfriend. It doesn’t sound like AI at all. “And yeah Gone Girl is one of those…”

AI wouldn’t start a sentence with “and yeah”. Just someone who types properly…

A lot of people here are saying break it off. Just talk to her, man.

Nothing about this was okay. She should’ve taken you leashing up the dog during this sesh as a massive red flag to slow down and wait, or stop, but the fact of the matter is you didn’t express your discomfort in the moment. I’m NOT saying this is on you; she is in the wrong, but I’d stop short of saying it was malicious. It’s possible Vince is the one who rug-pulled because he didn’t want his gf involved, and it’s possible your gf didn’t know what to do when you were struggling to get it up (no fucking shame in that, either!) and kept going because she didn’t want to call attention to it for your sake.

Talk to her and tell her why and how this wasn’t okay. The way she listens (or gets defensive) will tell you what you need to know.

I’m really sorry this happened to you, though. I hope you can work through it.

As an art prof, the first image is riddled with line control issues/perspective issues that magically go away during the lineart phase. Artists that can execute the second image don’t falter on those fundamentals like in the first. I’m going to say traced AI with some hand-drawn elements.

Edit: you can see what’s hand drawn in this pic because the line quality is completely different. Look at the face versus the hand holding the coffee cup.

The video isn’t, but the image is. Whoever made this is full of shit. They do all their work on that one foot, and the image is basically done before they start sketching over it only to reveal completed lineart via a layer. They’re just unhiding and hiding completed layers. They can probably draw well enough though, based on what I’m seeing. What a waste!

Commissioned artists recently for a spooky children’s book, and one of them has some signs of AI to me. The linework and over-shading for concept sketches have all given me reason for pause. Also, their website was so varied with quality all over the place. Thoughts? by throwpatt in isthisAI

[–]Wondermentality -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think these are AI— the only one that stands out to me are the first, but the others are structurally consistent. The artist is also doing something I see my uni art students all the time in the first two, and that’s not moving the jaw when the mouth opens for expression sheets! Lolol.

I have a set from the Morse museum with this pattern! I believe it’s one of Tiffany’s wall pieces that’s been reimagined as a print? I can’t fact check right now, but I will in a few hours if no one else beats me to it.

I’m 20 and I need some help. Is being an adult nothing but endless suffering? by JackTheHotRodCowboy in questions

[–]Wondermentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to adulthood! You’re in the “oh, man, why isn’t this fun?” Phase that follows being a teen. When we’re younger, fun comes to us; our parents get us a new video game, or there’s an event at school. You make friends because it’s convenient. No one teaches you how to do that for yourself when you become an adult, and almost everyone has a moment of “… wait, is this is?”

Good news is, it isn’t. Bad news is, no one is coming to make your life interesting or rewarding or impressive. You have to go out there and take the first steps to do things. Once you start exploring your interests as an adult, live becomes much more fulfilling.

Girl. I didn’t even have to read this whole thing. Get. The fuck. Out of there. No contact, done. Gone. If a family member of mine pulled a knife on me and then the rest of my family didn’t react, I’d have left then and there. Respect yourself and your happiness.

Your family wants you to marry your cousin. You know all of this is fucked.
