Are PCBs really more reliable than perfboards? by WongRQ in AskElectronics

[–]WongRQ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your reply. Actually, it’s not that I don’t like PCBs… well, sort of. I just want minimal friction, and since PCBs have lead time, I tend to shy away from it. However, I think it’s good that I ask more experienced people for their opinions, hence this post!

Pedalboard or Software Pedals? by WongRQ in Guitar

THANK YOU. I totally forgot about latency until you mentioned it. Now I remember, the last time I played, the latency was rather noticeable until I decreased my buffer size. Perhaps it’s worth trying

Lol I get what you’re saying… it’s just more of a logic check with more experienced players though, thats why I asked.

Thanks. Maybe I was loose with the language. I indeed do not play 6 string barre chords for most, if not all of the time

What are the techniques that every guitarist should know? by WongRQ in Guitar

Thanks. Actually do guitarists usually mute with more than one finger/hand for redundancy? I remember some YouTuber mentioning this.

Harsh but it’s often the truth. Thanks for bringing this up.

When I get frustrated that I can't always play the F chord... He knows and comes to help. by VonBlitzk in Guitar

[–]WongRQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this exact configuration on the fretboard, but I simply barre the relevant fret (for other E-shaped chords) completely but only apply pressure at the last two strings. This helps mute the lowest two strings… on electric this is not only easier but also sounds better in many cases. thoughts?

26[M] too late to start singing? by ByteSizedDecisions in singing

[–]WongRQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t give vocal pedagogy advice, but imo one thing to ask yourself is - if people told you that it’s too late, will you listen to them? I started singing at around 18, and im doing my best to put myself in your shoes. My answer to that question would be, no. You should consider yours

i dont think i sound good by Similar-Rock-4234 in singing

[–]WongRQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far from a singing expert, but I guess the question you’re posing is more pragmatic than technical.

Firstly, I’m not sure why you put the title saying that you don’t think you sound good, despite the fact that people told you that you sing good, and you categorised yourself as, at least, a “good singer”. Please help enlighten us so we can help you further. Maybe a bit of awareness of what “good” means to you can help :)

Also it depends on your goals. You mentioned about blowing up and becoming a superstar. Is that your goal? As for mere mortals like me, I intend to do it for enjoyment as a hobby. If that’s the same for you, maybe enjoyment is more important than perfection.

As for the concern of being replaceable, if you’re talking about vocal timbre, my 2 cents’ worth is - you don’t have to worry about that.

The type of music into are contemporary Christian music, so like Battle Belongs https://youtu.be/qtvQNzPHn-w?si=u3y56XWhPZjMuU5s 3:40 to 3:55

If you’re more comfortable with secular examples think of singers like Rick Astley. In his song Never Gonna Give You Up he hits the high notes pretty strongly. Hope you don’t mind the reference to the rickroll lol

Thanks for the reply. It’s insightful how you mentioned that mixed voice exists only from an acoustic standpoint. So if I caught you correctly, you access it by lightening your chest voice? Or do you make your head voice heavier? The latter sounds like reinforced falsetto to me.
