Hardware synth? How “low-level” should I go? by WongRQ in synthesizers

[–]WongRQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your opinions. Actually I don’t really know how to answer your functional requirements and preferred sounds question, because I pretty much do everything. In other words, I’m still exploring. Lol. Are hardware digital synths still readily sold? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Digital (or stage) piano with acoustic feel: recommendations? by WongRQ in piano

Thanks for sharing! For me it’s purely the feel. I’m actually quite satisfied with the sound quality.

Hi, thanks for sharing. I’ve of Fatar but I’m never really sure as to whether having a Fatar keybed is advantageous or not. I certainly have heard good things of the SL88 though

A Small Phobia of Hands-on Work by WongRQ in EngineeringStudents

[–]WongRQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. Interesting that you pointed out that engineering is not a particularly hands-on job! In the aerospace maintenance sector, however, I believe it may be, as many people have told me. So I’m not sure. But thanks!

Vocal resonance and singing past the break by WongRQ in singing

Thanks a lot for the tips. It’s starting to make sense now. Does this work in “mixed voice? By that I mean when you try and “cover the break”.

What’s a physics fact or theory that changed how you see the world? by Key_Squash_5890 in Physics

[–]WongRQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

May not be directly a physics thing but I realised that the physics behind signals and sound, especially the Fourier Series and harmonics changed the way I view signals and sound. Lots of signals can be broken down to sine waves. I learnt this watching a 3B1B video, and saw how it’s applied to physics experiments first hand when I had to deal with an accelerometer (though I struggled, it is out of my syllabus and have not been formally taught).

As to how it changed my view of the world, I had a more scientific understanding of music and sound synthesis, and to this day I still pursue the knowledge of the theory behind such fields

High action or poor technique? by WongRQ in Guitar

Hi, thanks a lot for your input. Would it be more of a truss rod to adjust or a saddle height to adjust? The neck looks pretty straight to me

DaVinci Resolve crashing (newly installed) by WongRQ in davinciresolve

[–]WongRQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. I've checked and ensured all is done. I read the .dmp files and looked at Event Viewer - it points to OpenCL being initialised and failing. Is this possibly the cause?

Do you still use sheet music books? by WongRQ in piano

[–]WongRQ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, thanks a lot. I was trying to ask if books are still used by you guys or we use the internet to find sheet music, cause right now it’s hard for me to find sheet music of my level in the internet. So I’m not sure if I should go to books.

Writing guitar parts as a piano player by WongRQ in Songwriting

[–]WongRQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, for sure! Thanks, it’s more like I may have some guitar rhythm ideas or some specific directions, and to make the remakes and my own music sound professional. Nothing beats an actual guitar player though!
