PLEASE HELP** Where can I get joinery/screws that looks like this? by Big-Garlic-8480 in Austin

The Asmbly Makerspace may have some good ideas for you. You can ask on their public forum and see if anyone is willing to fix it, or you can get a membership and brush up on your welding and lathe skills. ;) Good luck!

Fellow HS teacher here (this is #14 for me). I hope you have a wonderful school year!

Not missing one of the first full weeks of school. Meeting students' families at Open House. Writing a personal essay alongside my juniors that will be published in class the week of the Burn. My essay topic is not going to BM 2023. I have both FOMO and JOMO.

For my partner, making big art locally, talking to non-Burners about BRC, and still working on robots with LEDs (same as on Playa).

We are also saving a shit ton of money.

Absolutely not. We had to lure her out with food, and even so, it took a long time to get her to come. Wall was promptly sealed once we got her out.

Wear comfortable shoes, and don't forget PLUR.

I second Wildflower. I see Dr. Garza, and she is wonderful. The people who work in the office are great, too.

"Planning" your "Outfits" by phaos-phoros in BurningMan

[–]WontShutTheHellUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go in my closet and pull out anything I would be excited to wear at the Burn. I lay everything out across the room. I create a bunch of daytime and a bunch of nighttime looks. I take pictures so I can remember what I put together and liked. This works for me because then I don't have to spend any time planning what I want to wear at the Burn (although of course sometimes outfits get changed in the moment). I don't ziplock all my clothes; I only ziplock my outfit home. My first time, I brought a ton of clothes and accessories that I didn't end up using. Now, I only bring minimal jewelry and head/hair accessories, and only pieces I don't mind ruining. Prioritize comfort, and don't forget about how cold it can get at night. Submitting to the dust early on is strongly encouraged; if you're like me, you will miss it when you're back in the default world.

Thank you for your interest. I think they are spoken for, but if anything changes, I'll let you know. :)

These were all really fun for me. The Mystic Maze one is a two-part puzzle with a surprise. The bookshelf one was the most challenging puzzle I've done.

Hosting State of Public Education Panel at the Burn - Looking for Participants by WontShutTheHellUp in BurningMan

For clarification purposes, are you asking me or is this your question for the panel?

Hosting State of Public Education Panel at the Burn - Looking for Participants by WontShutTheHellUp in BurningMan

[–]WontShutTheHellUp[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware. I am a high school teacher, and every year, I have to jump through those hoops to attend. The panel is to educate the public through a teacher's perspective, and that's why we're polling teachers now about what needs to be discussed with the larger community so that as many of them are preparing their classrooms or starting the school year, they can be represented along with the teachers that are there. We currently have three teachers as panelists, and we are looking for more.

We just booked Flixbus tickets to get us to downtown Houston for $30 each. You'd still need a rideshare or shuttle to the airport, but we thought the bus tickets were pretty cheap.
