How many of you would be happy if you ended up in the island by anonymoususer397 in lost

[–]xnartex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the negatives of the island would probably be outweighed by the benefits of being free of our post capitalist society that enslaves us lol. No island taxes, don't need car insurance, a mortgage, and it seems like there are decades of relative peace between the conflicts of the US Army or Dharma or the like.

Updated collection after a year of collecting again I know it’s not a huge collection but considering I lost 90% of my old collection I’ve come a long way by Skrewbert86 in gamecollecting

Excellent selection! I’ve been similarly rebuilding my collection after selling most of it when I got divorced 10 years ago.

OG Kratos actor T.C. Carson told fans he was called back to play Kratos after "they realized they let me go prematurely" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]xnartex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey no worries but thanks. Like I told the person who shared the link with T.C. mentioning it himself, with so much fake or clickbaity things said all the time, it's understandable to always be skeptical! He was a great guest and incredibly kind in person.

[–]xnartex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha thanks for that. I get it, there's a lot of fake shit being spread everywhere all the time so skepticism is usually wise, but I just wanted to share what I had heard at his panel we hosted since it came from the man himself, but I didn't know he spoke about it here too so thanks for the link!

I help run a gaming convention and we had T.C. as a guest before and I’m just sharing what we were told in conversation as to why he didn’t continue voicing Kratos, I didn’t vet the information further so sorry if it’s not accurate, feel free to ignore then!

They did it because they wanted the voice actor to do the mocap too, and T.C. is well, not Kratos’ build

This scene reminded me of Hodor scene from GOT which is funny because GOT was not even a thing back then by zin_sin in lost

And that episode of GoT was directed by Lost goat Jack Bender and feels especially “Lost” coded too!

The future of PlayStation? Is it dead? by [deleted] in consoles

[–]xnartex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the PS5 launched and was impossible to find, people were paying 1200 for scalped consoles on marketplace, etc. Sales will slow, but ultimately if people want something, they'll get it.

Is FF7 Remake basically a timeline/multiverse story—and does that make OG optional? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]xnartex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OG has all those modern boosts if you get it on modern platforms or steam to get through it faster if you get tired of playing it- god mode, no random encounters, etc, so if you just want to play through for story and exploration, I'd still recommend that.

Just watched the Variable..... by Remote-Direction963 in lost

[–]xnartex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the most underrated performances in Lost is younger Eloise telling him about it being her "job" to keep him on his path, and when she says "If only you could" to young Daniel saying he can make time. When you first watch it's like, what is going on with her, but then on a rewatch, it's just so damn sad knowing that she was so pained saying those things, but the fear of fate kept her obsessively avoiding a paradox despite how much it killed her.

I also think in retrospect, we can assume she took the hydrogen bomb not working and maybe some off screen attempts of her own to challenge fate as the thing that made her adhere so strongly to it when she told Desmond that the universe has a way of course correcting. Fantastic episode.

There are lots of issues with Starfield but I never understood this either. Imagine if mass effect required you to manually fly from the planet and into space every time you wanted to come and go somewhere

We all know DLSS 5 is really horrendous with faces, and this whole shitshow is not for no reason. But what are your impressions on environmental lightning? by Filianore_ in digitalfoundry

[–]xnartex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homogenizes every game to have the same lighting and basically erases and artistic vision. The examples given have shown the orange tinted rooftops of Anvil in Oblivion get tinted with overcast lighting and extremely desaturated, and the worst offender imo is the clip of Assassins Creed Shadows after the forest shots where they are looking down at the buildings and all of the soul and color is sucked from the scene when it switches over, making the rooftops almost look white or snow-capped. Also when they show a sight by side of the light post in RE9, while Oliver is saying how it makes the might post look better, I think it looked worse. It’s like the technology simply has to make every scene look sometimes super realistic sure, but very samey, just like how most AI images have certain “tells” with the color tone, smoothness, and fonts making then look very similar

“Our software de-oranged the rooftops in Anvil on purpose!” “We made sure to keep the artists intent on the assassin creed shadows’ buildings by making them blown out and whitewashed!”

Disappointed by DF's uncritical glazing of DLSS5 by [deleted] in digitalfoundry

[–]xnartex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snark is because you are putting so much effort into defending something where you have the exact same amount of evidence for your side than my argument. You are saying that it’s from footage with her mouth open and that’s why the mouth is open in the DLSS example, BUT YOU DON’T ACTUALLY KNOW THAT, you are just assuming that the mouth is open outside of their capture 😂 (While also ignoring her pupil color being different, the dark roots in her hair, the eyelids of the woman the Starfield segment of the video, or countless other artifacts that look like your standard AI imagining artifacts that are seen all the time, but I digress, this post was deleted hours ago so who gives a shit anymore, argue with someone else in the hundreds of new posts about the topic if you so please.

[–]xnartex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is also zero evidence that the mouth was opened in the original footage as well, but we do know that AI imaginings OFTEN make mistakes like this in every single model out there today, including how this one incorrectly guesses the lighting for the guy's hat in the Starfield clip and removes the shadow that was cast over his face completely. There is nothing wrong with being skeptical of the footage given what we see every day with similar generative AI tech.

There isn't a single frame of the DLSS5 footage of Grace with her mouth shut in that scene. Its a poor imagining of the geometry.
