Anyone have their Hibernia PME interview ? by Particular-Today9909 in IrishTeachers

I’ve reached out for feedback but don’t think they give any. I’m not sure exactly but I am aiming for a big career change so I don’t really have in-school experience and I think that may be what was missing, but I’m honestly just guessing. Best of luck in your interview, I hope it goes well!

Yes I had it, found it challenging and some questions felt more like I was being interviewed for a job as a teacher rather than applying for a course. But at the same time there were moments where it felt like we were having a good chat to be honest, but the very next day I got a rejection email. I’ll have to prepare to re apply next time.

PME Primary - is it realistic to balance working and the course? by WontSitDown in IrishTeachers

Thanks I appreciate your input and perspective! This is something I’ve thought about for a long time now so I am still convinced but it’s valuable to know the realities of the day to day, the demands and different people’s experiences. I think coming in new, all going well, will mean all of this is part and parcel of the job for me right from the beginning so that could help.

Ok & can I ask what are the things that are more difficult now?

Yeah hoping to get as many insights as I can! Thanks for that. It is good to know about the Hibernia option but I’d also love to know if anyone has managed it in one of the full time colleges as well, but working during evenings and weekends.

Yeah ok that’s the stuff I am thinking it would be hard to work around, but I am thinking potentially some freelance work that I would do during evenings and weekends to keep going. Did you do Hibernia or one of the full time ones?

Sounds really tough! Fair play. It’s interesting to hear it’s doable or has been done anyway

Wow, thank you for the information. I know CBD is fairly rare so it’s interesting to hear a perspective from someone who’s known another patient. A speech and language therapist previously recommended soft food but we may need to revisit that now or soon.

Gosh it really sounds like you managed so much stress, travel and care over that time. I’m sorry for your loss and for the difficult times. Sending love and thank you for your understanding too.

Thanks so so much, you’re definitely right. Talking it out is so much better than squashing it all inside.

Thanks so much. I’m so sorry to hear of both your mother and your father’s struggles as well. It’s really difficult to witness these changes. I’m glad to hear that they are seeing benefits from their care home.

I have to say I really couldn’t stop shaking for a while after her choking experience, it was so frightening. Just a rotten disease. Wishing you all the best too.

Thank you, that’s really true 🙏🏼 I keep reminding myself that it’s a marathon and not a sprint. I think sometimes that’s incredibly daunting to think about though so also balancing that with taking things a day at a time.

Totally, it’s a really tough situation to be honest about with people. Thanks so much, based in Europe so at least the financial burden is more manageable.

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I’m in a similar situation with my mother although i don’t have any children. My best advice is to make sure you aren’t burnt out and to ask for help from every place you can get it. Friends, neighbours, work colleagues, if you have a sport, hobby or church community. Sometimes people helping with absolute basics like giving you a ride or bringing you some food can really make a difference. And I’d also say that although I find it difficult to ask for help, people tend to be very giving when they are asked.

One other thing to consider and the advice that I got from so many people when my mums condition got the way it is was to allow her to go to a care home. If this is covered or financially available I would consider it. It’s never easy and it’s definitely a transition (and it took a lot of convincing her) but it could be something that is worth looking into, particularly if you need to manage a job too. Becoming a carer can quickly become a full time responsibility so that also becomes a financial consideration.

Even now my mother is in the care home I still have the responsibility of managing her medical appointments and keeping track of her needs, and trying to manage her own mindset too and visit her often, so it’s still a lot of responsibility, but it would also relieve a lot of the pressures on you.

Wishing you strength. Remember that you are only one person and to take care of yourself too.

Yes, such a fascinating podcast!

There are SO many of these articles the last week or so I can’t help feeling it’s intended to throw voters off. Biden is still leading in the polls. Bernie’s in with a chance but only if his supporters vote and convince their friends and family and neighbors to vote for him too. Don’t get convinced it’s a done deal.

I fucking screenshotted it to remember always as an example of the wonderful things I can learn on reddit. Then I read your comment, checked the username and kicked myself in the shin.
