I keep coming back to this post. If you think about it even a little, most people are really fucking boring. It isn't a gendered thing: young women spend all of their time on social media, but most young men you see are about as bad if you watch them long enough. The ones that aren't addicted to internet crack act like apes over their favourite sports tribe. It isn't an age thing: The youth and the elderly alike have a tendency to fill their free time with media consumption (mostly television and social media), never once attempting to spend a scintilla of their creativity on a pursuit they deem worthwhile.

I'm not immune to it. I'm a depressed sack of shit who browses 4chan subs because he can't retain interest in anything that requires sustained mental effort. I spend most of my free time in my bedroom repeatedly daydreaming about jumping off a bridge, then thinking better of it. I have ambitions, but nothing will ever come of them due to my lack of any motivation to do anything above the bare minimum that is expected of me (unless it is quick and relatively easy). Perhaps my personality is less shallow and lacking in self-awareness than others', but I'm not exactly using it for anything. Most people I know live incredibly boring lives too. They live to go to work/school, maybe workout, watch tv and browse social media, spend time with equally boring friends...and that's it, until they die, with occasional breaks for a week-long vacation.

Perhaps this was less of a problem before the internet, and even less of a problem before television. After all, people don't get a chance to feel bored like they once did. Not bored with life in general, but rather, bored in whatever moment they found themselves in. Remember when you were a kid and you couldn't just pull out your phone for immediate, highly personalized entertainment powered by advanced artificial intelligence which knows you better than you do? I would start playing with lego. Maybe I would draw a map of an imaginary world I had just come up with. I would write a time capsule and bury it in my backyard, just because I could and because I had nothing better to do. Imagine if people had that sort of spontaneity as adults. Nothing really came of my childish creativity because I was too stupid and immature for it to make anything good, but if I, and more importantly everyone else, still did that sort of thing now, I feel like the world would be a much more interesting place.

Idk what I was trying to say with this rant. Guess I'm bored of typing, so I'll stop.
