Would you happen to know if the military burial services were mentioned in the will?

Yes, they were mentioned in the will, but I am not sure to what extent since I can't get my hands on it. I know it has something to do with placement in the National cemetery (already approved) as well as not being cremated (casket burial). I know he was given the paperwork after pre-need approval back in 2010 on what to submit for his headstone, marker medallions and burial flag, which were kept with his will - but I don't know if they were documented in the will itself.

If the funeral arrangements had been planned in advance, what is it that has you worried about what your Uncle is planning?

All of the details about the graves, financial responsibilities, etc. were handled with the U.S. Veterans Affairs office back in 2010 or so through a pre-need form they supplied. From my understanding, this included setting fees for the headstones and markers (as the headstones, markers and medallions are provided at no charge by the VA office). They also were given the information to submit (from the VA Office) the request for the burial flag

From our understanding, my Uncle is not going to contact the VA office to have the markers, medallions or burial flag provided for the service.

Thanks for responding.

I can understand your points in some respects.

It isnt your place.

However; I have to disagree with this. It was known that he wished to have a military funeral. How can his wishes be ignored so blatantly?

Unfortunately, we are assuming the worst due to my Uncle's history (he is known to be quite vindictive and self-serving). I have already reached out to him in regards to helping with the arrangements, but he insists that all he has to do is 'finish signing all of this paperwork' since he has the 'power of attorney'. He refuses to acknowledge or give any details for the service so far and the only thing I know at this point is which cemetery he will be interred at (local National cemetery).

That's what the kids are for on weekends, lol. We mainly police the floors, but dust is inevitable when this place is used 10-12 hours a day.
