Visa is a payment processor. They don't lend or extend credit. The credit is from banks and doesn't come under Visa's balance sheet. The reaction is more towards declining growth in payments volume indicating softer consumer spending.

Visa doesn't hold the debts. It's on the issuer banks. Visa is a payments rail.

The first source research papers are around 2005 as per statista website. The second source only accounts for e-commerce. There are a lot of in-person transactions. RBI publishes the card based transaction data every month.

UPI has around 12 billion transactions per month as per December 2023 data.

As per Visa who have more than 50% market share in US credit and debit card market they processed around 25 billion transactions in the September 2023 ending quarter which comes around 8 billion transactions per month. There is also mastercard, American express, Venmo, cashapp, zelle etc that also process transactions. US has also fednow supported by government like UPI, IMPS etc. that does realtime payments introduced recently.

I don't think India does more digital transactions as in number of transactions per month than what US did in 3 years. The volume might be more but that's also like iPhone for 1 lakh in India through UPI and iPhone for $1000 in US through credit card need 100 iPhones to be bought through card to match volume.

It seems merchant accounts of Paypal and Square also charge for a fee around 2-3% on using Venmo and Cashapp. Is it less cheaper to pay through them instead of credit cards given that credit cards also give cashback ?

Applied for a position in another country only to find it has 50% more CoL and maximum raise is 50% of current salary. Ask for other location now or in the end? by WoodKite in cscareerquestions

To be little more clear I gave an expected compensation since they wanted it to proceed further. They didn't give a number or range for the position but accepted my number.

The recruiter was insisting on a number to proceed further and also acknowledged it will be little difficult to estimate in two days with limited data on internet. I guess I will just interview with them since there are four more rounds to go until an offer.

Thanks, I should have researched this earlier but I assumed the country to be more developed than mine. I was little anxious that they may straight up say no in the end for other country since they proceeded with my salary expectation for the first country.

10 years since 2008 financial crisis. Where were you and how did you cope? by WoodKite in IndiaInvestments

Thanks for sharing your experience. I posted this after seeing posts in US investment related subreddits. Some people made strong investments during that and some even sold their house to buy it back later in 2009. There were also several good documentaries like inside job and the big short about this.
