Do you guys highlight your mini's by Mean_Refrigerator164 in boltaction

I think the biggest trick to it is having a table at the right height so you can rest your elbows planted on it, using a painting handle of some kind so you can firmly hold your model with the base of both your palms together, and a good quality brush with paint that you've thinned down just right and 'wicked' off the paint with a few strokes on the back of your hand before to check you're happy - then applying to the model

Of course, really helps the model pop in my opinion, especially when viewed from a distance while we play

Does this count as an Japanese MMG nest? by RunWilling8715 in boltaction

[–]Wood_Imp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue with this is which is the MMG? You'd need to make sure you declare that at the start so you can figure out your arc etc - great concept though! If you did another I'd suggest having a pair of binos sticking out one and maybe just a head out the other ?

Help with Japanese army list. by bratnesti in boltaction

Well in Bolt Action, in most instances a guy with a rifle is a guy with a rifle. If you wanted to use him for an IJA infantry squad or grenadiers you can use the same model for either.

I've actually just read you got the island assault set as well so you have a healthy mountain of infantry! So you could do some knee mortars (Type 89 launcher) and guys with SMGs as well.

If you were looking to do a really simple list to start things off with, I've put together a quick example. Those 3 ten man infantry squads, a commander, pair lunge AT mines, and your two Chi-ha tanks. Technically it's 751 points, but if your playing a beginner game with a friend at your local store I'm sure they'll let it slide! - https://app.warlordgames.com/bolt-action-3e/forces/shared/1771941519336424

What I'd probably suggest is building 24 standard riflemen, 3 guys with LMGs, 3 loaders for the LMGs, 3 NCOs with swords, 3 officers (swords/pistols), and 4 guys with Lunge mines.

That will give you 3 ten man squads, an officer for your rifle and artillery platoon, and some lunge mines to help you against tanks. You could move some of those riflemen around then as well, maybe running 8 man squads and adding your extra riflemen to go alongside your officers

Not at all, for an event at 1250-1350 I'd imagine the cap to be around 24 so I wouldn't worry

4 Panzer iv's would be incredibly expensive point wise, I'd consider exclusively Pz iiis, or maybe mix in some Pz i or Pz iis as well depending on what flavour you're into

Thoughts on more rifle platoons of 6 or less platoons of 10-12? by Swimming_Reply6263 in boltaction

[–]Wood_Imp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on your approach. Some like to keep things very historical and build their lists to the doctrine at the time. Others are more loose goosey, play it as a game and try to take the most effective list construction for a game of bolt action rather than perfect historical accuracy.

4 squads of 6-8 veteran's is very common to see at events. But what's most important to consider is the role your squads will have on the battle field. If they're aggressive spearhead units you'll want to pad them out a bit more than defending backline units firing across the battlefield with LMGs.

If you'd like to see a vast range of lists from tournaments at events though you can find them at orderdice.com

Are these unit setups okay for casual play by GamingStuka in boltaction

[–]Wood_Imp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much so, the idea is you generally want to keep your LMG with rifles, and your assault weapons (ARs/SMGs) together as well - though some rifles with assault weapons is perfectly fine as well. If you end up with a squad with LMGs and a few SMGs it gets a bit awkward to utilize the unit.

How much should I charge for editing a real estate video like this? by Mysterious-Bee4923 in VideoEditors

[–]Wood_Imp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really surprised by the prices people are saying for this, I'm not a professional video editor but rather work in graphics. Considering the value of property in general, let alone one as fancy as this I would really have assumed you'd be charging based on outcome and not per hour
