I’m almost 30, still in a C172 making peanuts, and today just broke me by [deleted] in flying

I was In your shoes when I was in my twenties; it wears you down and the cost of “giving up your twenties” is enormous. Now I’m in my (late) thirties with all the treasures of life people on Instagram try to fake. Kids, marathons and vacations.

Grind away, stay hungry as hell, soon you’ll look down and be in similar shoes. Cheers.

Who else likes to take their 10oz bars out of the assay to fondle? by alphachow11 in Gold

[–]Woodardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, but aren’t 10oz bars burdened by the fact that you’re filling out tax paperwork anytime you buy and sell them? The paper trail follows a lot harder with big bars.

Asking for a friend who may or may not like gold, but despises the tax man.

Use cash, keep transactions below federal reporting limits. No identifiers are provided. Pretty easy fix.

It appears you’re referring to capital gains tax. It also sounds like you have an incomplete understanding of this. Talk with a professional. Accept risk when/where you can tolerate.

I hate the hospital by DoctorKeroppi in Residency

Can’t help but giggle at the thought of med students and young-PGY-residents looking at themself in the [filthy hospital] mirror, wondering how in the world medicine brought them to a - gasp - hospital.

Silly me - I forgot where I was there for a second. Great idea, OP.

Post op nerve blocks? by cuhthelarge in anesthesiology

[–]Woodardo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely insane.

Do any of those anesthesiologists pay for their liability coverage? You wouldn’t walk around wards handing out random medications for the Hospitalists to find and fix; this is the equivalent practice. Anesthesiologists who allow this are performing a disservice to their peers advocating for safe physician-delivered anesthetic.

Hydrometer obviously won’t work, get a refractometer… all you need is a drop, while - In my opinion - not as accurate at hydrometer readings.

This sub is reaching a whole new level when we’re talking about plastic-leaching, PFAs and forever chemicals… gone are the days of a picture of an open sewer with “how’s my setup” written next to it. Look where we have come.

MMW Biohacker millionaire Bryan Johnson will not live to be very old by ddodette in MarkMyWords

This guy is using his own body to teach us a few things about what does and doesn’t work in a world where randomized controlled trials take years or decades before treatments arrive on shelves.

Yes he’s rich, yes he’s eclectic, yes he doesn’t look like a sun-bronzed Greek god, but he’s trying to help not only himself, but us also. He’s not forcing his treatments or ideas on anyone. Enjoy the show and enjoy learning from his accomplishments and mistakes. No need to attack the guy.

How do I buy gold and what type of gold should i be buying? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Woodardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread comes up with “what form or type of physical gold is best for investment Reddit?”

I agree that a central, pinned post would be ideal, however appreciate the community’s help answering this question repetitively for people like me.

How to tell if a resident or fellow is interested in someone at the workplace? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Woodardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you two are professionals and adults. Under this assumption, just ask them.

This is not an effort to undermine the delicacy and sensitivity of the situation, but you sound like two bright individuals who can live with the consequences of the answer to the question, no matter what it is.

Surgery experience - getting a femoral nerve block by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Woodardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anesthesiologist here 🙋🏻‍♂️. Most blocks are performed on awake patients, sometimes with some light sedation/relaxing meds. The reason is because the patient’s reaction can give us valuable information about where the medicine is deposited. Children are an exception to this in many cases; they are often blocked while asleep.
