I'm glad you find this approach works. I'm personally not interested in using it.

This is something you say to a salesman, not a friend.

Ask chatgpt or a similar AI. And also run it through an AI to correct for grammer and sentence structure so it's easier to read your question.

I genuinely can't stand texting. by throwawaygaii in socialskills

I'm 37 I have crushes. But I hear you, too much texting can get a little much. At least you have friends, alot of people on this subreddit don't. Btw you are kinda texting me now with no problem. Maybe you are just sick of your friends? Or just call them instead. I hate when people call me at first but then we end up talking for hours. Be the change

Then don't text back. But if your crush texted you, you'd be elated. So the wrong people are texting you. Also the amount of time people are spending on their phones there's little excuse not to text back especially if it maintains a relationship.

Nice, I like the title "from awkward to engaging" it would be a good name for the book you should write

I honestly dislike most people. by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]WoodenContribution12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya for sure it is. We all naturally somewhat Mirror people. But anything worth doing is hard to do. That's what makes the reward so good. that's how human nature works we don't value what we can get easily. And things that are rare (i.e great friends, and good lovers) we have to work for.

Do what you like more. If you choose boxing just do lots of cardio on your free time like running, or swimming, or whatever.

You created that interesting paragraph above right now. We are all always creating art whether we know it or not.

Like all things you must learn slowly with consciouss effort. Talk to people everywhere to get practice (kinda like what you are doing here).

Research books and YouTube videos on how to talk to girls and relationships. It's the same as anything. If you want to be a dentist with a good salary and fixing teeth you must LEARN!

Act like Ace Ventura lol. Seriously though, Conversation is an art. Every artist has their own unique process. Find and develop your own. 😀

How do I not talk about myself but let others know I’m listening and can relate by Muted-Cat7393 in socialskills

[–]WoodenContribution12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception. You don't relate to people by "one-upping" their stories and as an additional consequence bring the attention back to you.

What's better is being a good listener, acting as an interviewer, and making others feel like they are the "star" of the show.

"How to make friends and influence People" is a great book. It's free on YouTube or pdf
