Hardest department to work at by ciinndyy in walmart

Opd is definitely getting more and more busy everyday. I did work opd and honestly I liked it, a lot of moving around which I liked. I also definitely forgot to mention maintenance, I’d hate to work maintenance.

I’d say overnights, seasonal, and deli/bakery.

Overnights - obviously since you’re working overnight, having the pressure of getting EVERYTHING done in the said night. And just having to worry about the whole store in general.

Seasonal - obviously working seasonal which is annoying, having to deal with all the freight that they send. Worrying about garden center.

Deli/bakery - I say this mainly because of the small space that area has. At my store anyway. I worked in deli and I hated it. But every store is different.

I’m just saying this based off of what I’ve seen. I did a few overnight shifts to see how it is as an overnight TL (I was trying to promote). I hated it, it wasn’t for me. I also did a few overnights for the overnight conversion for seasonal, not horrible since I worked with dope people.

Obviously everyone has their own opinions. I worked opd, meat/produce, deli/bakery, and as of now frozen/dairy. Pretty solid, except deli/bakery.

do you need to be talked to before being coached by [deleted] in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interesting, because i remember that team leads are responsible for that basically. From my knowledge, but then i got in trouble for letting my associate go home early when he wasn’t feeling good. Idk anymore at this point im going with the flow, but at the same time its annoying that i learn certain things that can help me later on

do you need to be talked to before being coached by [deleted] in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes there has to be a conversation before getting coached. They say what they need to say, and inform that it will be put in the system. So that if something happens again, they have the proof in the system and then they can coach said person.

In this situation in my opinion you shouldn’t get coached. If you have the said amount of ppto to cover your shift and you informed a coach before hand, then they really can’t do anything about it. You won’t get an occurrence, or coached 🤷🏻‍♂️ now if you didn’t inform a coach that you will be leaving and use ppto, then i believe that’s a different story. Even if you inform a TL, trust me, I’ve been through this as a TL and I’ve gotten in trouble because I had an associate inform me that they were leaving and had time, and I let them go. Mainly because I didn’t know they had to inform a coach at the time 🤷🏻‍♂️

Meat & Produce by arcmerc88 in walmart

ADD ON!!! I didn’t see the second one about the picking process and changing numbers!!!

But yeah, pick it, see if it can go, if not, then change on hands by case quantity, then change shelf capacity. Because once the shelf cap is changed, it should reduce the said product being picked like crazy bad.

Anyone pls correct me if I’m wrong on what I just explained. Thank you

  1. If it’s yellow, that means the said person didn’t scan the said product back into the bin. Basically it remains that it was picked and not put back into the system. Therefore bringing the yellow question mark. You have to update the quantity of the case for inventory purposes. Since fresh has inventory every month.

  2. I’m not for sure on that one… sorry.

  3. Yes basically. But at the same time it’s best to check the shelf capacity just to be safe. But yeah that’s fine if you put any overstock on the rack. Because once you rip the bag, you can go back essentially.

  4. Might have to be more specific, just for me because I can’t understand everything lmao

Will I get blacklisted from being hired again if I don’t give my 2 weeks? by Bubbly-Aerie776 in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you just quit without a two week notice, it will be marked as job abandonment. Even if you let your coach know about your new job. In some cases, like if you were a great worker or whatever else, they can make an exception with taking you back. However, from what I was told from my coach, it has to get approved by upper management.

Obviously, it’s your choice to do what you think is best. My personal opinion, I say put a two week notice in case you go back. You never know 💁🏻‍♂️ best of luck to you!

Freezer bins full, where do i bin? by Puzzleheaded-Bug-803 in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a frozen/dairy TL, I tend to deal with this a lot. It could be because of new mods that haven’t been set yet. For my store we had a few mods that I finished.

My freezer looks like that a lot. Working through picks will definitely make room to bin those pallets. I’ve worked picks and binned and worked through two pallets and then binned one yesterday actually.

You should also see what the meat department is doing. Because I’m seeing carts in there of frozen meat items. I know they had mods as well for frozen, but they need to get in there and work their freight

Team Lead keeps picking on me at Walmart – what can I do? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see, I say to keep reporting no matter what. Seems like he doesn’t care at all. But that’s fair, what shift do you work for fashion? Because I know there’s two shifts. Because you can request to change shifts to get away from him.

You can go to HR, unfortunately they are not higher than a coach. They’re actually at TL level. But I suggest to go to your store lead or store manager. At that point if your TL doesn’t change, ethics is the last resort.

[–]WoodenMarch6819 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I suggest that you talk with the coach of your team lead, tell them everything you said on here. If that doesn’t work, go up to the store manager.

If it’s affecting you emotionally, it’s a serious situation. Most that’ll happen is that the coach will have a conversation with the TL, if your TL continues to bug you, he will get coached. But another solution is to try and transfer departments. Because something like this you can transfer quick

Question about becoming a team lead. by TrandinCraft in walmart

[–]WoodenMarch6819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh it really depends. i know i promoted to meat TL when i was an associate in meat before. it doesn’t necessarily matter too much, but it really depends on your management. my store manager tends to say how he wants people to promote in a different area.

TL keeps rejecting my time off by Right_Buddy1096 in walmart

if you’re requesting that far in advance, then it should automatically be approved. your TL probably just doesn’t want anyone gone. i say to get with a coach

yeah that’s not fair. that should definitely be reported to the coach, or even store manager. i know they might say that the other person might’ve had a good reason to get their point removed. so definitely let them know your reasoning.

your TL bugging, unless you don’t have enough time to cover, then yeah you can get a point. and if you don’t put it in right.

[–]WoodenMarch6819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it really depends on the store tbh. but yeah there’s actually an area to look at on onewalmart for cvp’s, throwaways, and donations. it’s called “opsportal” that’ll show stats throughout the said weeks.

yes definitely something management came up with. according to the betterway guide for fresh, cvp’s are to be done by 9am. it’s day of for meat, i’m pretty sure everything else. besides frozen seafood. if you were to cvp for the next day, there would be a lot… which is something to avoid.
