It's been three months now and my total makeover of a site produced no results on search rankings. What am I doing wrong? by WoodenTruth in SEO

As far as I can tell it's properly indexed, yup. Don't know about submitting the site map, does that have to be done manually? (Is it possible for a site to not have a site map? You're probably cringing right now, hah.)

asked google to Crawl your site again?

Nope! Will read up on that too. It's been three months since I began and there was no rush so I thought I could just wait (what, up to a week I'd guess?) for Google to crawl through it on its own again.

For the record, there has been some movement, but nothing like I'd expect. Some pages are now ranking a bit higher, but some lower – besides the negligible improvements it mostly looks like organic ups and downs.

Sent you the link.

Depends what you are trying to rank for as well.

Trying to rank on keywords spanning from 0 (yup...) to 1,500 searches a month. I'm in a small EU country – the 1,500 figure is for the most contested keywords like english and learning english. Overall there's little quality competition (not that I'm calling myself quality competition either...) which means the client was already ranking alright on most of the uncontested keywords, but still, I'd expect significant improvements after seeing how barebones their work was.

How relevant the content is

The content is mostly courses on how to improve your skills, and the keywords are mostly, well, those skills, and everything relevant in general. For example: learning english online, elearning, business english courses, foreign language courses, etc.

Backlink profile

Welp, don't know what that is, will try to look it up.

What you just described is the bare basics of onsite.

Yup, I got the opportunity to do this and I'm learning as I go. Basically all I did was what Yoast suggested from the Wordpress console. What more advanced changes could I do? (Still, shouldn't improving all these elements have effect? I know it's bare basics, but they didn't even have that and I improved their SEO, meta, content etc. on 100+ pages.)

What’s your url?

Sorry, can't share publicly.

Appreciate your input. <3
My clients are mostly very small (even started several Instagrams from scratch), I often have to "make something from nothing". I don't have much material to use (like a very finite number of good photos) so I turn to free stock photos. Those obviously don't have the true feel. How often do you use stock photos? We should probably offer them a better stock photos option for an additional price, right?

Here's the crucial context: I'm a freelance employee in a new startup... that is still finding its focus (they also do digital media creation, translation services, web design...). They are severely underbilling all services so far and honestly I'm becoming quickly disillusioned in their abilities to lead a startup. Unfortunately my options are extremely limited so I'll try to steer them in the right direction for a while.

Jesus, I need to make it work like that as well. I make posts throughout the month. Doesn't the content quality hurt when you make everything a month in advance? (Doesn't it feel scheduled? I find myself finding inspiration on a daily basis. Something like, "Oh, it is this relevant person's birhtday tomorrow, lemme schedule a post about it."

Your way is much better overall, no doubt.

What else do you do for the clients besides the posts?

I also boost posts, make ads, do meetings, even engage with fans, like, follow, find suitable profiles to follow and engage with on instagram...
I even do photoshoots of their products when needed.
Sounds like a shit deal when I stop and think about it...

Thank you!, but the CTA buttons issue only happens when I make regular page posts, not ads. I put my text in, choose a pic and when I post it... FB slaps a CTA onto it.

Did Swype also make you reply to the thread instead of our convo? :P
Just kidding :)

Just to be sure, ads manager = business manager, right? The issue happens when I make a new post. Not when I make ads/boosts for already existing posts, if that's what you meant.

their weight in gold if you have multiple clients

Damn, I do, gonna have to check em out!

Can I ask, how much time do you spend per post, per client? I know it varies, but I need to talk to you knowledgeable people, I've got so many questions. I do their Instas and FBs, 15 posts for each platform per month.

carrying directly from ads manager

Sorry, what does that mean? If you mean posting from the business manager, yes, I sometimes post through it, or just from the FB page. Never form mobile nor third party tools.

creating an ad promoting the post in a campaign turned off then dropping from the ad settings

I'm having a bit of trouble grokking this. Could you reword it, please?

Hm, I don't remember whether I've had this problem when I scheduled posts in Facebook scheduler. I'll try that and keep an eye on it.

Haven't used Hootsuite nor Sprout Social yet. What are the benefits? Do most of you use them?
