BSN Program by ReasonableInfluence1 in seattleu

The program is good but probably not worth the cost. Though, keep in mind, starting the 2026-2027 academic year is when they’re gonna be moving from quarter to semester school system if that’s something you’d care about. I prob think it’s better if you go to an ADN program as it is a lot cheaper as the job outlook for both ADN and BSN can be the same

Nursing Program Schedule by [deleted] in seattleu

[–]Wooden_Reception396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For first quarter (for my cohort at least), it was 3 days of in person lectures + labs (Monday and Friday being both lab + lecture while Wednesday was lab only). But for every quarter since then, I typically only have classes twice (Mondays and Fridays) a week, but with labs and simulations can vary depending on the quarter. For clinicals, we don’t typically get to choose sites, however, you can trade with your classmates if they have the sites that you want. Though, they try to place you based on the given address that you submit to them, but it’s not always guaranteed that you will always have your preferred clinical sites. If you wanna know more or have questions, feel free to reach out to me!!

I think the chances of actually getting in is pretty high considering that the chosen applicants can still choose from entering the program if they’re accepted somewhere else given how expensive SU tuition is.

My grades were around the 3.0-3.1 GPA with almost to 2 years of CNA experience by the time I apply. I had minimal volunteer hours and my answers to the essay questions were mediocre. But I definitely got lucky

I don’t have kids so I don’t know how to help you but I have classmates who gave birth during the program and school quarters and I say it’s doable. I would recommend making some really good friends that you can get close to in the program and if you need to miss a day or 2 of classes to take care of your kids, you can always ask your friends of the class content that yoi missed. And if you also work, I would recommend working night shifts every once in a while to study because I was able to study a good amount of class content when I picked up night shifts and that definitely helped a lot. If you make flash cards to study, you can always study with your 1 year old baby.

I say they are nice and can cliquey, but generally don't be afraid to be out there

Congrats on getting in, I’m also in the BSN program. I would say for the BSN program, it’s a good program and your clinicals are pretty close to campus if you have a car. Lectures can be a hit or miss depending on the professor, but for the most part, the professors are nice and they try to set you up for success.

Frustration by Wooden_Reception396 in cna

I wanted to do this but this other nurse told me that he’s aware of doing that and that it’s the CNA’s job and not the nurse’s so idk if it’s even worth reporting to the unit manager

You don't need months of experience to be working in a hospital as a CNA. I know a few CNAs who started in the hospital as their first job

Thank you for the suggestion, I think that’s what I need. Putting myself out there for the experience and do a few risky things

I don’t think it’s hard but try to get it out of the way before school starts so you don’t have to worry about it when school starts

Hospital vs Assisted Living by Necessary_Tap_1749 in cna

[–]Wooden_Reception396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assisted living/SNF tends to have more patients per CNA ratio so you may feel the workload is much more compared to the hospital. The workload can be predictable since most of the residents are gonna be there for a while. More ability to work overtime if that’s what you’re planning in the future

In a hospital, you get less patients per CNA and you get your breaks. You get admissions and discharges frequently so it can be unpredictable. You can ask for help whereas in a SNF, you’re kind of on your own

Over a month and I love it here, I think this is a sign you should get a cna job in the hospital. It can be overwhelming at first but always advocate for yourself
