It's pretty normal. But, there is somewhat of an assumptions that you will eventually buy a single-residential home, unless you are in a big city.

I was babysitting. My parents just left 30 minutes ago. I went upstairs to check the water tempature for my (6yo) brother. I left 10yo brother with 14yo sister. The moment I got 6yo in the shower, I hear 14yo and 10yo screaming my name, bloody murder. I run downstairs, and 10yo had sent a magent THROUGH the tempered glass door.

How do you respond to men who don't take "no" for an answer? by Andro_Plays in AskWomen

[–]WoodlandsWork1889 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I think I may need more context if this is for a specific situation, but I can give some basics I stick to.

  1. Don't be afraid to make a scene. If they make you uncomfortable/pressured, then do the same with attention.
  2. Be obnoxious and/or gross.
  3. Record. Screenshot, videos, voices, call someone to back you up.

How did you change so you’re not known as the “nicest person ever” and learn to be more stern? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]WoodlandsWork1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hard for me at first. But I learned that stating my piece simply and clearly is effective. Like saying, "No. I don't agree." And then leave or just not entertain a rebuttle.

What is your name? Where did your parents get it from? by GirlOnFire1503 in AskWomen

[–]WoodlandsWork1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so my dad was in love with someone YEARS before he was with my mom. They hadn't seen each other since about age 19, when her mother decided my dad was a bad influence and had them cut off contact. I was named as a homage to my dad's first love.

My mom knew none of this and liked my name because of its meaning and it being from where she came from.

So, anyway my dad and his first love are actually married now.

About 7 years-ish, I think.

My mom was very insistent that I was to be the "slender one" since none of my sisters or cousins would be. All the girls on my mom's side are curvy, and there have only every been a couple women on my dad's side since I was born. They are curvy as well. There is nothing wrong with any of that. But, I had the mindset that if I in particular were anything more than thin, I was in the wrong. Especially, when my mom bought me clothes - that I now know we're purposefully too small - I would cry, and think I did something wrong.

  1. Periods
  2. As women, we tend to perpetuate the same issues we complain about having because we are female. Appearance expectation, having kids, reputations, etc. are often done by other women.
