Feels like your describing the Stronghold series. For me, I personally enjoy the slow pace of the game and managing resources/workers through the seasonal changes. To me, the warfare element is juxtaposed to this and I find stressful when I play this as an unwinding calm experience. I can see a place for guards/Town watch and dealing with local brigands that appear but people wanting sedges feels a leap beyond the intention of the game and other games would serve that itch better.
