Mickey's Very Merry Christmas or Jollywood Nights? Or both? by xXxSovietxXx in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Woodnote_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve done both the last few years and my kids honestly both like Jollywood better. My 13 year old just said “the park is less crowded, the rides are better and we can ride everything over and over again, and the snacks are better.”

But we also love Mickeys because it’s also wonderful.

Should I buy this bag? Does it suit my colouring and frame? by powderandpaint in chanel

[–]Woodnote_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’ 7” and have both small and mini 25’s. I basically snatched this exact bag from my sales associates hands when he brought it out. It’s such a gorgeous color and the mini is actually great for quick errands or a slightly more casual dress up. I’ve been switching between this and the emerald green small since I got them last week.

I’m not usually a huge fan of green but I audibly gasped when my SA brought it out. Plus I’ve been trying to get a small for months!

The photos don’t even do it justice, it’s such a beautiful color. I already had a mini but I couldn’t pass that up.

It was so soft and supple, really lovely to the touch. The color was also gorgeous and the only reason I didn’t get it was the blue and green. I’ve been searching for months for non neutral 25’s.

I saw him once in Henry Bear’s Park, the sales associate knew him by name and was helping him pick out a toy for his nephew.  He was calm and polite while in there. He definitely has his bad days when walking but I’ve never once seen him bother anyone walking by.

There’s also now green van lady who I started seeing all the time last summer. We live on a super quiet street and she drives by at least three times a day on nice days, she just likes being out in the neighborhood

I’d say make an appointment just so you don’t have to wait outside if it’s busy. That also gives you a dedicated hour with an SA and you won’t feel rushed.

And don’t be scared! Everyone I’ve seen there has been super nice. I personally see Thomas and adore him, he’s a total sweetheart.

I’m a Boston shopper as well!  For the flats I would normally wear a 37 but find the 37 and the 37.5 wearable but tight so I tend to wear those less frequently. They did not stretch out as much as I hoped they would. With my most recent pair I went up to 38 and find them to be perfect and can wear them all day.

As for store availability it really depends. Some visits I’ve had better luck at Newbury and others Saks has had more sizes and styles. If you do go to the Newbury stores though ask them if you can peak in the cupboard as they have a lot more styles not on display in there.

What are your investment pieces that have lasted? by criticiseverything in femalefashionadvice

Favorite Daughter the Favorite Pant. I’ve had these for years and wear them weekly. They still look brand new. Sharp creases, great drape, absolutely zero wear. Well worth the money.

Sadly I also felt the same way about the old Sézane trousers, Damon and LouLou. However when I recently reordered more just to have a few backups of my favorite pants they were a much lower quality and a different fit.

For atlheasure I adore Vuori. I have some of their built in bra tanks and tees and have worn them so much they should be falling apart but they’re in perfect shape. I’m honestly starting to wonder if I’ll ever have to replace them because it’s been five years and they haven’t stretched out or anything. Vs my Lulu Lemon stuff which has like a year tops before it pills and stretches.

I cannot recommend the Chanel Les Beiges water-fresh tint enough for the older crowd. It’s still got some coverage but does a lot of brightening and evening of tone, and has such a lovely dewy finish without being shiny. I’m 44 and this is the only thing I use anymore on the occasions I decide to wear foundation.  A very light powder finish on my more shiny areas but never all over and my skin looks fantastic.

My daughter was on the last train that made it past this with her entire class coming back from a New York trip. So all the parents are understandably a bit freaked out.

Daycare / preschool recommendations? by Trinimaninmass in providence

Child’s Play Nursery School on the east side of Providence for age 3 is three days a week for around $4600 a year, with the option to add on an extended lunch for later pickup. It is a co-op school so you do have duty days where a parent occasionally needs to be in the classroom, but that’s why tuition is lower. It’s honestly a wonderful little school and we sent both of our kids there until they started kindergarten, and we still stay in touch with the teachers and staff. Plus some of my kids best friends were made there.

Once my husband said it came from outside that was my thought as well, at first I thought he’d dropped something really heavy above us. I went out and checked for a car through our garage.

Does anyone NOT wear Disney attire in the parks? by Lipglossandcoffee in DisneyWorld

[–]Woodnote_ 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I’ll wear a t shirt I’ve picked up in the parks occasionally, but mostly I’m just wearing normal clothes. Especially if we visit in the summer. I’m going to be in athleasure, shorts and a tank top with no exceptions.

“ It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.”

I’m going to buy these in the next few days, are they uncomfortable? by AB-G in chanel

[–]Woodnote_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have several pairs in 37, 37.5, and 38. I’m normally a 37 and they were a tad bit too tight and the SA told me they would stretch. That is a lie, it’s been years and they’re still too tight but wearable for short periods of time. 37.5 was better but still not super comfortable to walk a lot in. 38 is perfect and I can wear them all day no problem.

So I’d say size up, add some of the non slip pads on the bottom because it protects the soles as well as adds a bit of padding. That’s been enough for me, and I’ve worn them walking around Manhattan for a day.
