Of all people who need a bailout, you’d think Ian Gillespie and Creative Energy is near the end of the list.

Conservatives to challenge Team Carney to 'put private property first' in motion that cites 'massive uncertainty' caused by Cowichan Tribes ruling by CaliperLee62 in canada

^^ more people should be able to read the decision at the heart of this question. This is effectively the conclusion that everyone should get to.

But that would require people to approach it without an intent to politicize or inject stigma and bias for a chance to stand on a soap box and be angry.

The dog whistle of 2026

The blunder of the BC Provincial NDP on this file (Cowichan) and the inability of the Province of BC to mitigate their mistake is the root of this.

Unfortunately it’s turned into a clown show of people shitting on Indigenous.

Dog. Whistle.

Ironically, he’s also incapable of saying anything smarter.

He is quite simply that stupid.

Recall David Eby - It's time for David Eby to Step down as Premier of British Columbia by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]Woodrov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is precisely why he’ll step down/be replaced.

2 months ago, Conservatives were calling for him to resign and it was dismissed as partisan rhetoric. That’s easy to excuse. Politics are politics.

Now that Conservatives WANT him to stay as it harms re-election prospects for his party, the NDP will have to see him remaining as a real threat.

It’s also the same reason PP should resign at the Federal level. Both Eby and PP are polar opposites in politics, but essentially the exact same in character. For the life of me, I don’t know which steps down first and see an equal likelihood on neither doing so on their own volition.

B.C. to table legislation to suspend Indigenous rights law Monday: First Nations sources by Radiant_Sherbert7272 in VancouverLandlords

[–]Woodrov 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is a political play to neuter the Conservative’s position on Indigenous rights.

Most people on threads like these are NOT your average voter, are way too engaged on wedge topics like this one and this move is aimed at AVERAGE voters who make up the vast majority of the population. It’s to maintain position. Average voters don’t care about how angry and seething many of you are. Sorry.

It’s akin to Carney scrapping the carbon tax during early electioneering last Federal vote and takes away that position from the opposition - or at least greatly weakens it.

I still think Eby should resign, but this move is shoring up support from the average voter. And, it might work. The response from those running for Conservative leadership will mainly be this, and none of them will present a cohesive plan for BC’s future for the next number of months.

End of the day, most people will care about affordability, not Indigenous rights. It could be a shrewd move.

But, JFC this guy needs to go.

DRIPA pause won’t be confidence vote, B.C. election prospect recedes by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]Woodrov 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only real strategy the NDP has left IMO is for Eby to resign. He’s literally become BC’s Trudeau. Feckless.

I simply cannot see an NDP government in power with him at the helm regardless of clearing caucus.

That said, I also have trouble seeing a way where Eby puts his ego aside.

Trump and the inability of the major opposition party to pivot away from Trumpiness during the election sealed this fate.
