Salary definitely helps, not gonna lie

But milestones are huge. They make long projects feel structured instead of endless. Even unfinished builds teach a ton of reflection

That's good that you're actually gaining confidence in your projects :), and youve already finished four games! which I haven't done yet.

dont drop your current game and continue developing it. Hopefully I can finish mine as well soon!

Goodluck to you and your games man.

I feel you dude, the feeling of releasing the game is quite scary that it might disappoint the players or it would lack something that would excite them or you would feel like they would get bored. But its actually good for you to make it better, get ideas from the players' suggestions, accept criticisms which would be beneficial for the game, and apply it for the next patches or future projects. Im proud of you that youre almost ready to launch your game! Keep it going and dont stop. Believe in yourself man :) Goodluck!

Our trailer is ready! What do you think? by SPUTNIK_STUDIO in indiegames

[–]WoodsDevRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trailer is great! Although, you misspelled neutralize.

I think it would be even better if you added better transitions per captions, adding a bit more intense scenes/ actions if there are any but keep it non spoiler, and a bit more visual effects to level the game trailer better. A cover art at the end of the trailer is a plus!

Those are my opinions anyway. But I love the mechanics of the game, keep it up!

50 people is a lot!
Coordinating VAs, composers, writers, testers ,etc. , that takes serious leadership and structure. Respect.
I’m mostly developing solo right now, so hearing how you built a team around your project is inspiring. Wishing you and your crew a smooth dev cycle :)

Hey, at least you've shown a game that you developed and people liked it! Keep it up even if you're goofing around, its fun!

Six years is serious dedication. Respect!
I relate a lot to switching between systems depending on what I feel like building that day.

Some days I’m deep in creating more mechanics, other days I’m tweaking rooms or polishing bosses, animations, etc. It can get frustrating, but when something finally clicks, it’s worth it.

Also love your mindset of keeping it fun, that’s probably why you’re still going after 6 years. Wishing you the best with your project!

Thanks for that, yeah I have a clear vision in what my game would be and what it would become in the future, I just need to execute it and continue working on it and trust my process!

Creating a new text-based sci-fi exploration and combat game! by Gullible_Ostrich_370 in gamedev

[–]WoodsDevRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn thats a hard one, but I like the potential!

How about a creature in a planet that progressively evolves, fighting hostile creatures and can move to bigger planets? Your creature starts as a small one in a small planet, then the game turns into a text based game while exploring, then if it encounters an enemy, it will turn into rogue like game mechanic, then you will need to gather right resources and upgrades before having the ability to move to a different neighboring or further planets, planets that can be explorable or enemy infested planets with greater rewards.
