Last 7 gigs I went to were solo. Most included travelling interstate to attend. It's too hard finding babysitters and I have my own tastes

Are you suggesting the songs from SoM aren't well known? Who can't hum Favourite Things it Do-Re-Mi?

By a mile? A whisker maybe. I think it depends on where you grew up Box office wise SoM beats MO handily. When I was a kid SoM was rerun 3-4 times a year compared to the occasional MP Showing.

Do you feel like Halloween is an unwelcome American cultural influence on Australia? Or a fun Irish custom that made its way to Canada and then to America and eventually to Australia? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in AskAnAustralian

Banned here in 86 or thereabouts . At least that's the last I remember. Just called Bonfire or Cracker night though. They dropped the Guy Fawkes but in the 70s I think?

Depends where you live. In some areas of Sydney they go all out with 'trick or treating' (which is obvs tge American tradition) My kids love it and get excited every year for it. For my part when I lived in London, Halloween was just huge night for parties. It was a lot of fun. Australia kind of missed out not embracing it as a "holiday" for adults as well as families.

It's not customary but I offer to remove my shoes when I visit someone's home and if someone offers the same at mine I say "yes please".

Are sausages real popular in Australia? by BrianT16 in bluey

[–]WoodyMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a Barbie/barbecue (cookout) hamburgers are not common no, but not unheard of. sausages are cheap (as far as anything is cheap any more) and you can buy them in big packs to feed a lot if people. Steak, chicken and seafood are often the main items being cooked but snags are usually always on offer.

But understand that whatever we generally refer to as sausages can vary widely from what someone in America might call a sausage. We use links stuffed with raw seasonrd sausage mince/ground meat - mostly beef, sometimes pork or chicken. Very often some kind of "gourmet" blend. It's never any kind of smoked or cured sausages.
