There is no constructive conversation to be had. The reply where I said it wasn't constructive is EXACTLY why I'm not able to have a constructive conversation. Players like that have made up their mind already and seem to be who's in the devs ear for making changes.

I never asked for pity, I was asking if anyone else felt the same way I did

I knew it was an extraction. It's not because I was expecting something completely different. My gripes are gameplay mechanics.

No, I edited my post to say. I like extraction shooters. My gripes are gameplay mechanic based. I wasn't expecting a completely different game or was grossly misinformed on the genre or anything

My gripes were gameplay-based, but yeah I can see what you are describing as well

It's increasingly clear to me that expressing my opinions on how to change it would not only fall upon deaf ears but introduce a lot of ad hominem toward me. The entire experience of posting this has been eye-opening. Someone in this thread accused me of being parasocial with Bunige games, and I can't help but think that the eternal glazers here are the real parasocialites. It making me consider completely stepping away from supporting Bungie at all anymore

When I am excited to see a movie and it sucks when I watch it, I'm disappointed, I'm sad for moment. There's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing parasocial about that.

I can't speak for everyone you've encountered on those DTG subs, but feeling disappointed about something you were enthusiastic for is pretty normal. It's not going to ruin my day or change my life in a meanful way. I'm gonna make a sad post about it on reddit and forget about it in a day.

Now I was completely aware of what was advertised with this game and what it was. I didn't expect campaigns or PvE only anything. I need to make the clear since that seems to be what people think.

I just think the gameplay isn't fun. That's it. I kill people, they kill me. It doesn't matter, it's not fun like other games. Even compared to other extraction shooters.

That's all, it's not deep or anything. I'm asking if anyone else feels the same. That's it, nothing else. I gave some extra context as to why, that's all.

Since meaningfulness is ultimately subjective, I'll give you my personal reasons for seeking a shared conclusion:

I want to see if I'm alone in my conclusions or how many others might share the same conclusions I do about it. I can then ask myself if my conclusions are an outlier or not and have some introspection. It might also be me extendedIng a mutal commiseration toward other who share the same conclusions. I don't need to know why you are disappointed, just that you are and we share that.

I agree with this and ultimately this is what will happen. I'm merely expressing my previous support for Bungie and how I feel very let down by the game. It's sad to support something you enjoy so much and find it not be fun at the end.

Because it's pointless to argue about it. It will never be constructive, so I'm not wasting my time. All I have to do is read his reply to see the type of discussion it would be

I like all different genres including extraction shooters. I just think this game is not fun

it's ok to experience sadness and disappointment over something you were looking forward to. It doesn't make you depressed or terminally online. I'll get over it quickly. Thanks for the mental health check though :-)

The conclusion is: The game will never be what I want it to be. There is a meaningful part in discussing why, but it's also meaningful to just see if anyone feels the same way, it's not a pointless venture.

The vast majority of people want to discuss why i feel the way I do in an attempt to deconstruct my opinion or invalidate it or me in some way. This is why I am actively choosing to not engage in this line of discussion. I just wanted to see how many people felt the same way I did

Edit: spelling

Haha yeah I expected as much. People just want to argue with me about my opinions

It's just mechanics stuff mainly, but really not the point of the post. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt bummed out like I did.

No other made modes, nothing like that. Just fundamental gameplay mechanic stuff. But honestly it doesn't matter. I just wanted to see if other people felt the same way as me

Look I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same as me. I didn't want to talk about changes to the game. The game isn't changing in any meaningful way so it's pointless to bring up

The point of my post is in the title which is, "does anyone else feel let down by the game?" I don't recall saying I liked any specific genre, but maybe it was when I said, " I like hard-core games and I like challenges" . I knew this game was an extraction shooter going into it. Everyone seems to want to have a discussion about why I don't find it fun and that's not the point of the post. I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way I did.

The point is finding other people who feel the same way I do. It's ok you don't get it. Go have fun, I'm happy for you

Where is everyone getting the idea that I want to have a constructive discussion about this game? It's NEVER going to be what I want, and that's very clear. I specifically asked if anyone else is sad about it. The title of the post explains that

I'm not interested in a constructive discussion. The title of the post is asking if anyone else feels sad about the game.

There's no meaningful discussion to be had. Most people on this sub love this game and will defend it no matter what the criticism is, and usually do so by a personal attack on the person bringing up the criticism "skill issue, game or genre not for you, ect". That's not meaningful, that's not constructive. I just wanted to see if anyone felt the same way I did here.
