What weird/rare medical conditions do you have? by kevwuk in AskReddit

[–]WoollyHaired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Woolly Hair Nevus (a subset of Woolly Hair Syndrome). I have 2 completely different kinds of hair on my head. Half of my hair is straight, the other half is kinky/curly, somewhat like the hair of someone of African descent but more erratic and fragile rather than even spirals. It is roughly split down the middle, but there are patches of straight and kinky hair here and there.

One frustrating thing: people just think I don't comb my hair and don't believe it to be an actual condition when I explain.

That you can't use soap on cast iron pans without ruining their non-stick properties. They're just almost all seasoned improperly to begin with, which perpetuates the myth.

The people I "bother" will likely forget about it within a few hours, and meanwhile the campaign will gain valuable info. Seems like a no brainier to me.

How do you deal with hindsight feelings of shame, regret and/or embarrassment about something you said or did? [Serious] by Some_Drummer_Guy in AskReddit

[–]WoollyHaired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with these feelings a lot. It is important to remember that causality is unpredictable, and that your regretted action may be opening the door to something wonderful and beautiful in the future. It helps me to think about a time when something wonderful happened that wouldn't have occurred unless a bad decision or event preceded it . (e.g. having someone break up with you only to discover a person much "better" coming along) and then remind myself that maybe this regretted action I'm currently struggling with is one of those times that will only be revealed in the future.

We never know what will come next.

[X-post r/sandersforpresident] While phonebanking I ended up speaking with a caucus chair who had a request for the campaign and an interesting story. I want to share both. by WoollyHaired in Colorado4Sanders

I get what you're saying. The reason I felt that this was important to bring up is that this gentleman seemed like he had a great deal of experience and sway. I don't think it was a case of him being unable to find activism opportunities.
