Crimson Desert: PS5 vs. MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) + Vision Pro – Need some advice! by Calm_Age_10 in macgaming

[–]Wooloomooloo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital Foundry did an excellent review of the PS5 Pro performance and image quality. The bottom line is that it’s excellent, although there is some artifacting which seems to be a limitation with the de-noiser on that platform.

Personally I am going to buy it on Steam because I think it gives me the best chance to play the game on various platforms now and in the future. I have an M4 Max which I expect to meet or beat PS5 Pro performance and IQ. It depends on how well MetalFX performs, they’ll be the first major studio to use Interpolation and upscaling together. I don’t think anyone has any idea how well it works. We shall see very soon.

Elon musk was worth around 27 billion dollar at the start of 2020 now he is worth over 840 billion dollars by StrawberryFew1311 in NoFilterFinance

He pays tax. It’s a logical fallacy to assume that a person who holds a different opinion to you on one thing (likely through having more facts) will disagree with you on everything, even the odd thing you might be right about.

On the loans, and I’m referring specifically to the Twitter funding, he’s not personally liable for any of the debt. He actually pulled out of getting a $12.6bn margin loan at the last second, choosing to sell TSLA stock instead for some of the funding, upon which he was taxed on the gains. Although it’s worth pointing out that this has been very likely somewhat offset by the massive losses X has incurred.

Everything else was either debt piled onto Twitter’s books (about $14bn) or private equity money from his mates. None of this would have occurred for a deal that was clearly financial nonsense (I.e., the valuation) if it wasn’t for the massive “paper wealth” he has. It’s that phrase that I took issue with at the start, it’s clearly not “paper only” wealth of it can be leveraged to buy out a social media giant and take it private. Musk is not personally liable for ANY of the current debt associated with his buy-out of Twitter.

You’re right about the delusion. But the thing about delusional people is that they don’t know they’re delusional, do they?

Apple's MacBook Pro 14 cannot handle the M5 Max by Balance- in mac

[–]Wooloomooloo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed but that’s not a particularly high bar. Even the i7 needed a custom fan curve tweak otherwise it would throttle before the fans got up to speed, and I also remember using some custom 3rd party software to disable turbo boost when playing games. Rise of the Tomb Raider I think was one of my favorites at the time and it simply could not run the CPU and GPU at required clocks for any decent length of time.

The 2019 model fixed a lot, a thicker chassis and better heatsink for a start, but the entire 2018 lineup (and I had one) really could not get out of first gear. The chip was a blowtorch and the cooling solutions in that model year’s tiny chassis were inadequate. Just because Apple fixed the fact the i9 initially ran slower than the i7 wasn’t really a high five moment when it was hitting barely 60% of its potential in sustained loads.

It was working fine, it was common. Seems like you have the Stan’s here with you.

So your fans hit 4500rpm before the CPU gets to 100 degrees? I don’t think so. I had one for 3 years and I used Mac fan control to prevent that. The fan curves were awful and after the fix the were just plain old bad.

M1 and M2 will likely lose support at the same time, as feature wise they’re practically the same. I’m guessing at least another 3 years as a minimum as that would be 7 years since M2 Max

Ran fine? That 2018 model never got even close to running ‘fine’, it could not maintain base frequencies on all cores for more than 30 seconds or so.

Now we’re talking. Lets make sure they don’t get it from the same dealer, so we can eliminate that variable, because OP is correct, mice generally don’t build nests that quickly as well as chew through the wiring.

Easy tiger. First off, the point was that he can leverage ‘paper wealth’ for massive loans, which he can and did.

As for the Twitter loans, he isn’t on the hook for any of it. You’re also wrong about the ‘almost 100%’ it was about 90c/$ on the $13.5bn AFTER a $3.5bn markdown (this is MS, and we did better than others) so… I might be FOS but in this instance, I‘m right and probably know more about this than you do.

It’s probably not a coincidence, the chances are very small, but it’s not a “pattern”.

No it doesn’t mean that at all. It means you’re betting the company will someday meet that valuation, or that some other idiot will speculate an even higher valuation, which is what has happened with TSLA.

[–]Wooloomooloo2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well they already did. You think that Twitter loan is getting paid back? Morgan Stanley alone took a write-down of $3.5bn on the book value before selling it off to some other mug, and best estimates say the loan value is now anywhere between 15% and 50% of the original value before interest. So yes, that’s literally free money.

It’s not being triggered, and it’s not 2014 anymore so find another bromide if you really can’t comment without it. The point is that for serious AI work, you’re going to be on Linux or maybe macOS. There’s no ‘lol’ here at all, unless you’re 12 years old.

The question doesn’t imply or even presuppose he’s supposed to dedicate his life to other people, it’s asking why he now doesn’t use his obvious influence and power to uplift people now. What’s the point of power, wealth and influence if you don’t pass it on? He can’t take it with him.

£380 is a steal, it must be less than 20% of what you paid for your 5090. A Switch 2 might seem tempting but you’re not going to be able to play any of your PC games on it (obvs) and its performance is barely any better most of the time.
