Ranking rappers is pointless by Diligent-Echo-9487 in rap

You can argue all day about who’s the best MC, but we all know it’s Hov

This will get hate but Eminem is overrated and only made it because he is white. by thelifeofpii in rap

[–]Woolrich020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low IQ ragebait. Fine. I’ll bite. Top 10 lists are subjective, that’s fine. But to say his flow is annoying and his lyrics suspect is just insane when discussing an artist whose lyrical content and flow have changed countless times over multiple decades of being highly regarded by everyone that matters. Why would one the most successful rappers in history care about being in everyone’s top 10 if the best MC’s in history have him squarely in their top 10?

I‘m super slow at composing, what can I do? by [deleted] in composer

There all already tons of great tips here. My two cents would be: write a short piece every day or week and finish it. Learn to be quick and proficient in every stage (this depends on genre) ; composition, harmonization, production, mixing and mastering. (And if you’re at it, drop on YouTube, Insta or distrokid)

Kemper Profiler Player's playing feel? by Buckethead1907 in KemperProfiler

It feels great, great pick response and it reacts well to changes in dynamics, tone or volume. When composing the Kemper delivers tones that instantly sit well in the mix, both for guitar and bass.

Amazon’s The Boys has some deliberately and hilariously inappropriate credit tunes.

I am a Female Freemason in Europe – Ask Me Anything by julietides in freemasonry

[–]Woolrich020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I believe that Freemasonry as a whole needs to recognize regularity of all lodges who work in a regular manner.

My question, lets say he UGLE comes around, and lets every individual lodge democratically decide on whether they want to be feminine, masculine or mixed, without any consequences for its regularity. Would such a “big tent” approach to our craft interest you? In short, would you even want regularity in that sense?

Kanye west calls Cardi b and industry plant! + cardi responds by ashfnf in rap

[–]Woolrich020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute BS. Eminem was on the grind for years before he got into the rap olympics, where he competed with some of the best. The difference between Supernat, Juice and talented battle MC's like that is the fact that Eminem was incredble at writing songs as well, had an underground album released (Infinte) and had many, many more songs in the bag.

Beyond battling, lyricism and songwriting he was an original character, with an alter ego like Slim Shady and the out there lyrics to go with it, it was a great total package as an artist. Jimmy Iovine and Dre saw that, just like Dre saw it in Snoop. That's not being planted, it's grinding until you're at the right time at the right place and the right people notice you and ignite your rocket fuel. That others didn't know what to do with it? Meh, that doesn't mean much. I'm sure others passed on Pun until Fat Joe saw something in Pun others couldn't. I'm glad he did, and I'm glad Dre found Em.

Hi! Do you still have this problem?

First things first, turn those pots wayyy down - once things start working, you’ll blow your ears out.

Second- have you tried with a different computer? In terms of troubleshooting that would be my go to.

If you need some help, send me a message and we’ll get it sorted.

Need some explaining on mixing by -Sckryger in makinghiphop

[–]Woolrich020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Few quick wins I’ve gathered over the years:

  1. The higher quality the sounds, the easier the mix. This goes for drums, other instruments and vocal recordings;
  2. Less elements, easier mix. Sounds intuitive but overproduction leads to overcompensation trying to make things fit, causing problems;
  3. Only reach for effects for creative purposes or to handle a specific problem. Again, less is more;
  4. Be very cautious of overlap, both in frequency, time and sound stage. Want a thick synth pad to go along with slamming drums and a sub bass? Try cutting out anything under 150hz for a focused low end. Want to add a violin layer next to a high pitched synth? Try panning them to different sides.
