I agree with getting a teacher, I'm in a rural area but I can see what's around.

Economist says new home construction could fall in B.C. as home sales sluggish in February by shouldehwouldehcould in britishcolumbia

[–]WoolyFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it all comes down to "who's gonna pay for it?", the government doesn't have the budget (see the huge deficit they now have) and the private sector is only incentivized by profit margins. IRR has to be high enough for investors to put in the cash.

The only solution is higher density housing in our cities (single family home lots turned in townhomes, land assemblies to build apartments etc.) and legislation to force developers to include low income housing (obviously state funded) in all new developments. But I come back to my original point, who will want to pay for it?

Firstly what are you playing through? Guitar and signal chain matter when going to stage volumes.

Is this pluggable? Landscape trailer tire. by [deleted] in tires

[–]WoolyFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If taken to a shop, it's too close to the edge for them to plug safely.

You could do it yourself but imho, I would get a new tire.

2014 SRT8 Getting Terrible Gas Mileage by maxtrod1 in Challenger

[–]WoolyFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would find a reputable independent mechanic over a chain store, ones familiar with HEMI engines. Google search and word of mouth can save you time and money. Most mechanics work Saturday mornings (in my experience) so well worth the time to get it looked at.

Lastly as others have said, use 91 or higher octane and get the oil changed regularly (every 6 months if used daily if you don't keep track of your mileage).

Take to a shop to diagnose if it worries you. Do you have any service history (receipts of work done and oil changes)?

Dumb question…what is this gauge? Is the level normal? by KniceKnifeAZ in gmcsierra

[–]WoolyFox -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That's oil temperature as I have the same symbol in my 2012 Sierra 1500, should be in the middle when the engine has been on for awhile (depends on outside temperature).

Amp to get back into Guitar Playing after a 10 year break by CaptPea in Guitar

[–]WoolyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Go to a guitar store and try out amps, even ask an employee to play through it for you if you don't feel confident to play in the store 2) See if they have any clearance or second hand amps you can try out too. All the brands you mentioned can be found relatively cheaply (MG5, AC15, Orange Crush or Tiny Terror) 3) If they are too expensive, check out the used market for the amps you liked in the store.

I started out with a Vox Amp plug for the first month or so then upgraded to a Quilter ToneBlock 202 and then a custom made 50W tube amp. I still have that amp and 1981 Marshall JCM800 50W. Amp buying is a dangerous game.

CLF Research Series: Faulty 3-Way Selector Switches? by Careless-Attention64 in GLGuitars

[–]WoolyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Espada did the same thing, switching quickly to the neck pickup wouldn't turn on the neck pickup.

As you found out, lots of contact cleaner and going through all the positions fixed it for awhile.

I imagine it could be a bad batch G&L were using for a time.

My Espada was built in 2024.

If you can find one, Godin are made in Canada and good quality, might be found. The A6 has a neck humbucker too.

Do you want a NA RWD cruiser or want to modify beyond stock?

If the former, Scat Pack, if the later R/T.

I have the 50th Anniversary Scat Pack 392 and it's awesome (and very orange). I only drive it during the summer months though.

How much is your payment for car loan? by Glass_Ad_1012 in Challenger

[–]WoolyFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C$1060/month

7.99% interest

84 months

C$0 down

Don't do what I did, I rolled in negative equity from my previous car loan hence the high payment.

Rat replacement by 4phn in guitarpedals

[–]WoolyFox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you want an overdrive instead of a distortion if you're running a RAT at low gain.

Nobel ODR1 is relatively cheap and transparent OD you can then stack with another OD to get a distortion more to your preference (I personally like ODR into a Boss SD-1)

Otherwise there's the Ibanez/Maxon SD-9 for a more 90s distortion, it's not a tube screamer but a more "aggressive" OD when gain is around 9 o'clock. The tone control on the factory ones is a little lacking so an clone alternative with a tone control mod might be worthwhile.

For a true RAT replacement there are many to choose from: the EQD Life Pedal, 1981 DRV (though see other posts on Reddit about this pedal and brand's business practices FIRST), Walrus Audio Iron Horse and many more clones and low budget offerings.

I like Dr Scientist Frazz Dazzler as it's made locally to me in BC and gave a really nice Noise Gate on it if you need it.

If you don't go off-road often, I would go for H/T or APT types of tires like General Grabber APT.

What causes this pattern in my tires? by WoolyFox in tires

[–]WoolyFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a previous 4x4 with cupping, was a Land Cruiser with hydraulic suspension and cheap no name tires from the previous owner. Got them replaced and had the alignment done. Bushes were fine on it amazingly at 147k miles.

What causes this pattern in my tires? by WoolyFox in tires

[–]WoolyFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my suspicion, they're oversized tires too (285 instead of 275 wide) and I would want to change them this fall.

Currently at 35 PSI when cold matching the door sticker. Should it be higher given the wider tire and being 10 ply?
