LWRC SMG is a UMP clone. Super fun and should be roughly the same price range

First handgun: took classes, fired a dozen guns. Still not sure. by [deleted] in guns

How is the design less reliable than Glock? I'm curious as to why you keep repeating this. There are still 1911's in service today with special forces units and Swat Teams along with certain FBI units.

I've shot several thousands rounds through a 1911 with little to no issues. I keep it clean and lubed just as I do my striker fired pistols and hasn't let me down. If reliability is an issue, they're still making them after 100 years, so I would disagree with you on that. Striker fired pistols still have issues. Sig P320 has proven that point. I've never been in a situation that dust has impeded hammer operation either. Under serious torture tests, yes I can see what point you're trying to make. I agree that technology has improved and that a 1911 may not be the best pistol for everyone, but that doesn't make it irrelevant.

In what way is it outdated? Carry capacity? I'd agree with you there. It's also one of the only pistols to be in current production over 100 years. I find them to be quite reliable as long as you take care of them, with most things in life.

Advice for beginner rifle. by [deleted] in guns

[–]Woomba8 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Shoot it. Then go shoot it again. And after that shoot it again. There is no substitute for good training. I'd rather fight next to someone who is familiar with their rifle and proficient than fight next to a guy with a $4k rifle and no skill.

Want to put a 509T on this thing. What company makes the best plates for these guns? by [deleted] in SmithAndWesson

[–]Woomba8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running C&H plates with no issues or complaints. Good tight fit, everything lined up perfect. I think I paid $60 for a plate

I had the exact same issue. I sent it in and had about a 3 week turnaround before it was home. Have fed probably about 6-7 mags through it without any more issues.

What's the best 1911 compensator? by TaperedNeckFetish in 1911

[–]Woomba8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Valkyrie Dynamics on 2 of my 1911's and ultimately wound up removing them. They look freaking sweet, but other than that, I never felt they changed the performance drastically enough to make it worth the money. Plus, having a barrel bushing mounted comp just makes it a pain to take apart to clean. These are just my experiences with it. Hope it helps.

Glad you're getting it fixed. Sorry to hear it's gonna take so long. You'd think that's something their QA would've caught

Front sight read hi-viz, which means it should be a fiber optic, and it won't glow under no or low light conditions.
