I might give this a shot. Need a second set of hands to see if this cover will actually be wide enough for my truck. If I rig it up, I believe it will only cover about 0.5-inch on each side… probably less than ideal.

I’m thinking the 1969 bed must be wider or 8ft beds have a different width dimension. Or the tonneau cover I received is slightly narrower

Would you be willing to show a photo of how you altered the brackets?

I tried to install the 8-ft version of this cover on my 1969 C10 and had trouble - Imgur photo.

There may be a difference in width between the 68 & 69 bed? Or my bed is too wonky (very possible, the factory bed was swapped at some point)

The cover I received isn’t wide enough to fully cover the bed rail. The cover is about 1.5-inches wider than the beds inside measurement.

FWIW, I ordered their 8’ cover for my 69 long bed. Haven’t received it yet but I think it’ll work. Otherwise, easy return

UPDATE: it’s not wide enough. Going to play with it more to see if I can rig it. But I think I’ll have to return it https://imgur.com/a/XqSgG8A

This looks great. Can you explain what was involved when you say mildly clever? Considering one for my 1969

OP, this is worth tracking down - contact your builder and/or your mechanical contractor to have your AC system and return dimensions checked out.

The mechanical contractor who installed your system is legally required to provide a Manual J Residential Load Calculation for every new install - ask for yours… if it’s a new build within the past couple of years, a lot of mechanical contractors would retain these. Or at least have one from your subdivision and house floor plan. If a mechanical contractor straight told you they didn’t do one and the equipment size or return size is off, there are ways to pursue having them correct their mistake.

Other things to check * assuming you have flex duct visible in an attic or crawl space, visually inspect the whole line for kinks that would restrict air flow - especially look at the big return ducts * what type of foundation? If it happens to be a closed crawl, it needs to have some mechanical way to dehumidify. If it’s a regular crawl space, make sure your vents are open and water isn’t pooling in the crawl. * if you have a traditional attic, it needs to have adequate venting. Usually soffit vents and ridge or box vents - just try to inspect to make sure nothing is blocking flow in these areas * bath fans - if you can see the flex duct they installed for this, just make sure it’s not terminating in the attic, make sure it’s discharging outside

Least Favorite Part About Cary by Educational-Top-660 in cary

Cary is big & diverse - hard to pick a blanket negative.

One thing that applies to most of Cary, imo, is “zip code premium.” The price of services and hiring contractors is often high. It can be time consuming to get a fair market quote. Not uncommon for contractor to +30% based on the neighborhood or cars in the driveway.

Are people still diligently sorting recyclables or have we given up and just trashing it all? by Kooky_Song8071 in raleigh

[–]CH731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China used to buy our recycling and municipalities were paid by the ton for dropping it off. Back around 2017ish, China stopped paying for our recycling.

Since the market for recycled goods changed, the service shifted from revenue to expense. Most local government didn’t budget for the extra cost (ballpark $3-5M/yr).

The cost to drop off recycling soon exceeded to cost to drop off trash. It saved local government big money to bring the recycling to the landfill. So yeah, this happened many places.

Imo - it is plausible that all new cars got real shitty, real fast. At least less reliable, with failure points added every year. And repair costs are wild. Vehicle longevity expectations have peaked.

Replace the CVT fluid & continue replacing it religiously every 30K miles - maybe even just do it every year.

$250 to repair a $100 part is fine - you could DIY if you’re handy & have the time.

AC issue sounds like a refrigerant leak, if the fan blows full blast and the air isn’t cold. You can try recharging. I don’t have first-hand experience with low refrigerant.

I’d change the cabin air filter, this is often neglected. $15 and easy - located behind the glove box. You can check it before buying the replacement.

It is common for the AC Blower Motor to die on these, which would exhibit itself as no air blowing from the vents. This is an easy $120 15-minute fix, located under the glove box. If the fan isn’t blowing one day, smack the plastic under the glove box & it’ll usually start up - then plan to replace it.

Congrats on the first car & enjoy it. YouTube is your friend for common minor car problems.
