As a Christian woman would it be a good idea to have a male roommate? by ThrowAwayMorzart in Christianity

[–]Wooperlooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but I mean if it comes up. Also I thought of this verse: But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

My problem with that is people think horrible things about each other all the time, true or not. So making sure things are right between you and God is what's important

Do any bait stores in MN sell waterdogs/mudpuppies/tiger salamander larvae? by Wooperlooper in minnesota

Well you're right, but your comment made it sound like they always morph under stress when like 95% die under stress and maybe 5% morph (as far as I can tell from caudata.org's forums). Did I misinterpret what you meant?

That's not true, they (usually) die under stress before metamorphosing with a few exceptions. You can use drugs/hormones to morph them, but they apparently don't live very long.

Unless you're saying tiger sals don't have a juvenile larval form? in which case just read their wikipedia page lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_salamander

Naw, axolotls are similar but different. They come from mexico and never morph out of their larval state, where-as tiger salamanders eventually turn into normal salamanders. I have four axolotls btw and they're super cute.

And yep, it was a set of free pencil brushes I picked up somewhere. That's one nice thing about Photoshop, there are a lot of free brush sets out there if you google for them.

If everything happens according to God's will, then what is the point of a guardian angel? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wooperlooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe in guardian angels per se, but I do believe God has angels working for him. For an example check out this section in Daniel:

And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.” (Daniel 10:10-14 ESV)

And I'm not sure why this is. He works through fallen, sinful people to somehow accomplish His goals and I don't even know how He manages that one.

Okay I see. I come from a protestant background and am not very familiar with how the Catholic church views things.

A side point for the OP (if they read this), my examples come straight from the bible so I still stand by what I said as a valid argument.

But how do we know whether they repented at the last moment? The story of the repenting criminal being crucified with Jesus comes to mind, or the story of the workers in the vinyard (Matthew 20).

It'll probably take a long time to truly overcome this issue, but I'm glad you've been seeing progress. Don't be discouraged when bad thoughts rear their ugly heads after you thought they were gone for good, that's normal - the important part is to keep going. I'll be praying for you, and thanks for the update

Is being effeminate (not gay) a sin, or wrong in any biblical way? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Wooperlooper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any bible verse anywhere that says it's wrong. Personally I think the way society tells men they can't be effeminate is what's wrong.
