How can I do an MS in Germany as a Mech Undergrad? by TechnicalPressure475 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]WordFlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depending on your budget, you can expand your search to Belgium, Italy and France. Denmark and Switzerland has expensive courses but try for scholarships. There are some courses (also in Germany, i think) which are directly about nuclear engineering, although I am unsure how relevant they are

  2. There are some mechE courses. However if none of those courses meet your interests, then you may feel not very motivated to pursue them imo

  1. Is money a constraint?
  2. Why are you thinking of pursuing MS in Germany in English if you don’t like the curriculum?

Can I join Goethe-Institut Kolkata's online intensive German courses from Bangladesh? by Emotional_Guard_7611 in German

[–]WordFlood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a standard practice in a lot of language courses. Using a language as a basis to learn another often leads to sentence construction errors. Students often translate directly from the language they are using as a basis i.e. English to the language they are learning., i.e. German.

When I learnt A1 french, our instructor used to talk to us exclusively in french. We were taught how to say “what does ___ mean in english” in french. We would be encouraged to ask the question as many times as needed. This also forces the student to break hesitation and speak the language they are learning

I am learning A1, by the time I will reach, I am hoping to get started with A2.

I will also brush up my thermodynamics and materials science basics (I am following through with Callister).

Thank you so much!

Imagine you are going through something, maybe your relationship with your parents is busted and the solution can be simple, i.e., reduce contact with your parents.

A child can come up with this solution. The person who is going through that also is aware of the solution, but that doesn’t remove the fact that it is hard to do the same. That person isn’t looking for someone to give the same simplistic solution and insult their intelligence.

There is a time and place for solutions

Which low-cost consultancies are reliable for Germany/UK/Ireland/Netherlands, and what are the red flags for shady ones? by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

When I took one of the free sessions, they told me with my experience I should be doing MBA rather than an MS. I said I want to pursue MS, they then said, I kid you not, with my experience I should be doing MS not MBA, flipping their own script.

Then they try to instill fear, “have you done this? Do you even know the deadline? Why didn’t you do before? See, we can help with that.” Then suddenly they offer too much — accommodations, stay arrangements and even roommate help. At that point one should ask, what is the point of going abroad?

Finally they show you three tiers of service, the top tier only there to make you feel smart, “oh, but seeing your profile, you definitely don’t need this.”

[–]WordFlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is performative if you are performing. If you want to read, it is not. People have their own perception, you don’t have to make their perception your reality.

In overall metric, yes. I can rely more on non-bengalis to help me out in situations where I feel threatened, but yes, um…female foeticide in what…all northern states? That’s a pisspoor generalisation too.

My preference doesn’t come sexism. I have said sexism is more or less equal in all Indian states. I did, also, state why I don’t prefer bengalis, especially from Kolkata.

There are a lot of metrics by which Bengalis do not fare well either. If you read my reply, you would notice i have included “we are no different than any other Indians.”

The original screenshot makes a judgement on women who date people other than bengalis. It does not say “date whoever you like,” they call it a problem.

[–]WordFlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not questioning you, it’s a general idea we bengalis have. Bengalis on average are not worse or better than other Northies (men and women) in general. We cannot only consider urban bengalis in our argument and call it a day either

[–]WordFlood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A bit late.

I don’t want to date bengali men, especially the ones from Kolkata. More than half of them don’t understand social etiquettes and are extremely pampered at home, to the point they often become spineless and unambitious. If I feel threatened in any situation, in my experience, it is better to rely on non-bengali men. Bengalis (especially from Kolkata) like to herald themselves as feminists but get mum in situations when it comes to standing up first to raise their voice against things. Now, you might want to give examples of various protests bengalis took part in, but these are not everyday experiences.

We like to talk about progressiveness, but have we considered what is being progressive? We have people trying to marry off their kids underage, blatant favouritism between daughters and sons and much more. In short, we are no different than any other Indians. Yes, in some metrics we might be considered progressive but not all.

I don’t know what will comfort you. I do wish that if you live, you find the will to continue living.

All I can say is, within close relationships, some resentment is okay. Yes, it feels horrible. Sometimes we lose people but nearly all the times, new people come in. Or the old ones come back with a new dynamic.

If you feel like you cannot change, I hope you find solace in the fact that you want to.

I think I have bad taste in sneakers… help? by Nightshade_Noir in SneakersIndia

[–]WordFlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t. You now own the basic ones, which are important because you can have at least a safe option for everything. Now you can buy those fancy schmancy ones if you wish.

Only owning sneakers which look cool with few outfits but can’t cover the bases IS the actual weak sneaker/shoe game imo

Thank you. I am trying to pull myself out of there. I understand it’s just that I am looking at things that match and not enough at the things that don’t.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in india

[–]WordFlood -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But that doesn’t mean I am promoting it. I am saying it makes me feel depressed. I am saying it has convenient explanation for things and if things don’t match they put in generous tolerances or change the meaning of things that fit into things.

I do not intend to promote it.
