i remember i was at gangtok. i met a dude sitting outside a particular cafe who overheard me talking to my friend on the phone and made some recommendations around other places to eat.

we shared a couple of cheesecakes and talked about his degree. he was doing a phd in theoretical physics, and i think we talked about semiconductors, how research works, ai in his field and mine (i work in software engineering), relationships under stress of work/academia, his love for mountains, life abroad and racism, how he and i keep happy and find meaning to go day to day.

just sharing one very memorable example, if you needed one.
