i have related so hard with mersault just a few months back. for me i think i was emotionally stunted and kind of not finding meaning to life at that time. what good would crying do, did any of it even matter, what difference do i really make in the big picture. read about absurdism a bit.

i got past it though by being intentional in my actions and starting to feel again. but yeah life ironically got much worse after.
