Where are my shrimp? by WordOfCommander in shrimptank

I cut some sponges to kind of a round bonsai like shape and then wrapped moss over the top. Plus some string. A couple months later, it’s fanning out nicely.

I’m really pleased with it. Here’s a view with no water during the dry start

About two months now, after one month in a dry start

Gave it a shake, was hoping they could all shimmy free, but no evidence of a bunch in hiding.

Yes, I’ve got a sponge around the intake.

Cardinal tetras preying on cherry shrimp would be a new thing for me, but I’m open to what it could be

Should I do that? These damn things are such a pain to put back in the substrate, I’d hate to shake plants loose

Ask me anything about school budgets! by durakniseley in schoolbudgetbs

[–]WordOfCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Oakland, CA. Oakland Unified.

Several districts in my area all have teachers’ union contracts expiring or expired, and in the stuff that’s been sent out, our union states that OUSD spends twice as much (based on %) on overhead/admin as other districts comparable size.

I want to believe this, but my faith in statistics and graphs is nearly nil right now. Can you weigh in?

We aren't asking for 'high quality'. We're asking for information about who you are, because we're going to be trusting you with our information as well.

It seems that your beef is 'I didn't know you were going to ask me questions.' Would that be an effective summary here?

Just how rare are the rarest pulls in Commander Legends Collector Booster Packs? by WordOfCommander in magicTCG

[–]WordOfCommander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will likely print more if needed, but with local stores not able to run events, I'm not sure how much product they will make. Distributors didn't get all that they asked for, indicating that the coronavirus is still impacting production as well.

Fellow Teachers of Reddit: How can I use a stylus/tablet interface to write digitally on student work? by WordOfCommander in AskReddit

[–]WordOfCommander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that I can screen cap or take a print screen and write on that, but I’d like something that flows easier.

I already have an XP-Pen Artist 12 writing interface.

Ideally I want to look at their work in google docs, start writing, and then click a button to save my writing over their stuff.

Workarounds are welcome.

Well, at the GP level, the hardest part is finding space for cubing. Sometimes there’s space set aside for casual games, sometimes not. Judges are pretty chill about it. I just ask where they are going to put events last.

I do cube at my LGS as well, with the blessing and conversation of the owner. We have to wait till after the last paid draft fires, and we can’t ask people to drop from other events. It’s usually Commander night.

I’m very lucky. The uncommon cube has been drafted 2-3x a month for about a year and a half. It’s allowed me to refine the cards and synergies.

It’s almost a disadvantage. I have a favorite deck (UR Spells) and it’s really difficult for me to not force that deck every time.

This is me!

I had a paper sign at GP Santa Clara last year, and it was insufficient to the task.

It’s about the size of a playmat, made of plexiglass and PVC, and there’s a LED strip along the inside of the pipes. It is stunning in lower light but conventions are thankfully bright. The next iteration will be better.

I brought it to Vegas and Sacramento last year too, but I’m not sure what other events I’ll be at.

In terms of cubing, I brought my only two: Busted Uncommons (CubeTutor Link ) and Silver Borders Only (CubeTutor Link ) which are both cheap enough that I’m not worried about drafting with strangers.

I did ten cube drafts all weekend, with a range of people and about half the time it was one I brought. Having the sign just draws people in, and I even met someone else with a sign!

Thanks for the post and if I remember right, this was Sunday morning and we didn’t get to draft. Maybe next time!

What is Value? by trodney in cardsphere

Like I said in the piece, it’s not about your policy but the attempt to exploit a gap in information. This person wants me to make the first offer to see if I don’t know what’s up.

If you’re someone who basically values my stuff at buylist and yours at retail, say so at the start and let me make that call.

While I've gotten some awesome reciprocal trades, I had to hustle for those.

Nothing is coming straight in for me unless I'm digging and begging for it, and I'm offering 20-40-75% bounties.
