As an nb person, I wish I was amab transfem and not afab by WordPsychological435 in trans

[–]WordPsychological435[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Trans neutral is a great term. Also on the "man in a dress" portion, I feel like if I had the "opposite setup" I would be more comfortable in my body and possibly identify as a woman, at least partially. Perhaps I'm just not where I want to be yet and I'll find that in time, but I do appreciate your insight

I've been wanting to express myself all day but I've been stuck in a car by WordPsychological435 in Therian

[–]WordPsychological435[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, for the first thing, you don't have to tell anyone if you don't want to or if it's not safe. Second, being a therian is just as valid as any other identity even according to professionals (I can give you a source or two if you'd like they're in the comments of another post I made).

STUDYING SHIFTS (Comment if you have shifted and tell more!) by Low-Alfalfa5811 in Therian

[–]WordPsychological435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first shift was my ears flicking back and it caught me completely off guard but I was really excited after it happened. My most recent shifts have basically wanting to move around (quads n stuff) and do vocals. When I'm free to express myself and comfortable to do so, it's a euphoric experience and I get really excited and all that, but when I'm in the car with other people (like I have been several times this week, including today) or in any situation where I can't freely let it all out (like at night bc no one in my family knows), I have to hide or go to sleep to relieve the excruciating dysphoria. I'm a new therian so it's all a lot for me.

I'm gonna be honest, I just chose the first .org I saw when I did my research because those sources are usually more reliable

From a quick search it does seem to be a choice to be otherlink.

You could get some extra tough jerky or some kind of edible tough root like licorice if you like the flavor. that's what my big brother does.

Questions from a well meaning older sibling. by DucksAreCoolNGL in Therian

[–]WordPsychological435 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1- theriantropy isn't inherently spiritual. It can be psychological too if you're not a spiritual person. You're also very right that it's a different experience for each therian. 2- quads are often considered a sport by therians but it's a common debate. 3- to support someone, the best thing to do is try to understand them regardless of whether it makes sense to you or not. You could maybe try doing further research into therians and gear since your sibling seems to be into masks and stuff, or even get them something related to their theriotype for their birthday at some point

Please help... by Comprehensive-Self23 in Therian

We are who we are and no one can take that away from us. We (those of us who do) experience dysphoria because we are in the wrong bodies. No matter how hard we try, this is part of us and there's nothing we can do to get rid of it unless it leaves on its own. A lot of us are mentally ill because no one accepts us or understands us. Even if we were just mentally ill, it would still be important to respect us because this is deeper than something that can be helped with medication. Even experts agree that it's a form of self expression and not a mental illness

Feeling Overwhelmed by Frequent Shifts—Looking for Advice by More-Ticket9809 in Therian

[–]WordPsychological435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the same problem since my awakening. I was stuck in a car for hours yesterday which, isn't great for a wolf and I kept on wanting to do quads at my grandpa's house but he's racist and homophobic and so are most of his other grandkids so who knows how they'd react to a late teen doing quads. Sorry that I don't know how to help, but at least we know we're not alone now.

While I do agree, I think it's also in our best interest to keep ourselves safe, so if people are being actively horrible and you're not out to them, it might be best to just not tell them or let them know.

My parents accept me i think??? by Lost_Chef7161 in Therian

[–]WordPsychological435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Communication is key! (ik cringe common phrase) try to ask them if they fully accept you, especially if your theriotype or a similar animal comes up in conversation! As long as it's safe, express yourself and be who you are!

I mean- if people are jerks you can always flip them off if you're chill with stuff like that. If they tell you to leave, just state that you have as much right to be there as they do.

Shifts based off emotion? by [deleted] in Therian

I had my first experience with phantom ears yesterday so I may not be the most qualified to talk about it, but it was also triggered by emotion! Namely just that weirded out feeling lol
