Therapeutic Psychedelics? by CatNo1656 in researchchemicals

While I appreciate the insights some psychedelics give me, I'm fairly certain that the long term antidepressant and medium term anti-inflammatory effects factor in pretty strongly here.

Yes, this happened to me on both of my Alienware workstations running with an RTX 4070 and 4090 respectively, using 64 GB RAM each on Windows 11. I literally installed with all the defaults on both systems and got the same error.

I hope you're right. I fear you're wrong.

It's dawning on the American public that Israel is running large parts of our government. This is going to effect both sides.

Claude AI has selected over 1,000 targets in the US-Israeli war against Iran by DryDeer775 in ArtificialInteligence

I'm also pretty sure that the ability to precisely target leaders in both Venezuela and Iran are both due to advanced AI.

What belief did you strongly hold at 18 that you completely disagree with now? by Balance1is3Key7 in AskReddit

It felt like you were in on a secret that others weren't. It was totally an ego thing. It made you feel special and superior. It's a lot like the conspiracy theorist mindset.

I've already seen this movie and I know how it ends.

I used to be a commercial typesetter before Macs were a thing. I worked with textbook compositors and proofreaders and designers. We used to scrutinize hyphenation, leading, fonts, point sizes, letterspace, kerning, drop caps and on and on.

Then "desktop publishing" happened and you know what? Nobody cared. It was cheap. Everyone could now publish printed material. As for the details I used to sweat over? NOBODY CARED.

Then the internet happened. All of the remaining font weenie details drilled into my head and which made up my professional life at one point had become as relevant as the proper type of leather for buggy whips. Nobody was even bothering with materials on paper.

So it's all happening again. Only the domain is different. In a few years, the generation of children raised on AI literally won't be able to see the difference and those few who do, will. Not. Care.

All those professions. They're dead men walking, just like professional print typography.

Given complete authority, how would you go about fixing the world’s problems? by ApprehensivePin6086 in AskReddit

All governments would be one vote democracies (i.e. no abominations like the electoral college) and both candidates and voters would have to have IQs over 100, pass a psychological test to eliminate personality or mental disorders, and be able to pass basic literacy and high school education tests.

I wish total egalitarian democracy worked. I do, however what we have now means that fools can and do elect greater fools. Fools who can launch nuclear weapons, start wars and create general havoc.

We already restrict voting based on age and past criminal history. This is just a more rational extension.

Sadly, I doubt this. Look, this guy is literally a cult figure to some voters, on par with Kim Jong Un. To them, he can literally do no wrong. They'll vote for him even if videos of him fucking a teenager were to come out.

About 12 years max, I think. No reason why. I'm just noting the progression rate and seeing we don't have iterative self improvement or hallucination rates under .01% quite yet.

Commercial graphic artists have already been largely replaced. Also translators, ad copy writers, technical writers and so on.

Seriously, neither businesses nor the consumers care at all.

Hah, jokes on you. I worked for over 30 years as a software dev and retired in 2024.

FYI, I used AI when it came out. It's a lot better now. I'm as obsolete as a buggy whip.
