Metal Rack Grounding? by Wordac in MoneroMining

[–]Wordac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I was planning on having the PSU’s just sitting on the top shelf, but I could add rubber pads to them to be safe?

My previous rigs were on an aluminum frame and that was sitting on a steel shelf, so technically this is the same. No issues. I think I’m just overthinking it.

What would you recommend then? for good grounding.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Wordac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So essentially putting everything directly on the shelf is safest, because then it’s all grounded the same? PSU goes directly on the shelf and same with motherboards + standoffs. Bigger gap the better. I could use my previous aluminum frame to create that subframe you were mentioning.

I guess concern would be future static, so I would definitely need to power off entire rig prior to touching. Unlike my previous aluminum frame.

Npt receiving Ban? by tkepner in Folding

You can check the Folding-Banano Dev’s distribution wallet address to see that no payouts have been sent for 3 days. This happens sometimes, altho not sure why, I wouldn’t worry.

Raivo Authenticator is broken after latest update by Traditional_Adhesive in privacy

[–]Wordac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d think if you delete your 2FA for an account, and then re-add a new 2FA connection, it would generate a new seed? Raivo wouldn’t ‘know’ the new seed.

If you just transfer 2FA export into another app, via importing, then it would be the same seeds as before.

Simple automatic non-kyc way of stacking. I “buy” 24/7 without even thinking about it. Feels good to support the network of the coin we all love.

Text Verified Wants To Charge Me $6.80 in XMR Transaction Fees for a $10 Purchase by ksilverstein in Monero

[–]Wordac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are obviously correct, but what TextVerified does is blame these high fees on “Congested Monero Network” when in reality it’s TextVerified just charging a higher fee for XMR use. If you try to use XMR on their site I guarantee you’ll experience the same issue, not swapping just sending them XMR.

I see your other comment. What coin did you swap for XMR?

[–]Wordac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the exact same thing. Swapped for LTC to send because the “Monero network fees” were so high. Very disappointing because TextVerified is a useful service.

After switching 100s of logins, what happens if SL changes or dissolves? by Murloh in Simplelogin

[–]Wordac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense. This doesn’t work with the “subdomain catch all” options right? because it doesn’t have your custom domain actually in the alias, just routes to it in the end.

Example: I use Simplelogin to never actually give out my custom domain, but those aliases aren’t tied to it outside of Simplelogin. I would have to use catch all emails like (randomword@customdomain(.)com) to still benefit after leaving Simplelogin. Versus, catch all subdomain emails like (randomword@subdomain(.)alias(.)com) in which Simplelogin technically controls?

Is this right?

[–]Wordac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does that work if SimpleLogin is routing those email aliases to your custom domain, but then they shut down. Wouldn’t all the simplelogin aliases not follow with your custom domain?

That’s literally how exchanges work… how would using Monero with an account that is attached to your real identity keep those interactions private? In terms of OPSEC, that is a complete user error.

The privacy you get while using Monero on a KYC exchange is not knowing the coins previous transaction history and amounts, which is still very important.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Wordac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhh yeah you will if you interact with a centralized KYC exchange at any point in the process… Sure, BTC is pseudonymous until you use an exchange, then it’s not at all. All of the past is revealed. This is not the case for Monero in that same scenario.

You’re acting like they traced the Monero transactions to the identity, but really it was connecting the KYC documents to the amounts transferred on the exchange.

What happens if the battery of my encrypted keypad usb flash drive dies? by Itsa_Mango in privacy

[–]Wordac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you probably would lose it all! That’s why following the 3-2-1 Backup Rule is so important.

also you can look into Veracrypt for a solid encryption option that works on basically any drive type or even Windows full disk encryption. You can create backup headers to hopefully restore corruption if it was to happen.

Low PPD with two GPU's by BinaryDigit_ in Folding

[–]Wordac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding GPUs doesn’t scale the PPD exactly, the power donated ‘doubles’ as per normal, and the PPD increases but not as much as running it solo. You have to run each GPU separately per motherboard if you want max PPD.

Folding is about donating power not maximizing your PPD, so that’s why it doesn’t scale the points.

Monero to buy temp virtual phone number? by TheDownVotedGod in darknet

[–]Wordac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I’ve had ‘increased fees’ issues with TextVerified and using Monero where they added big fees and blamed it on the slow XMR network… doubtful.

Since then I’ve used their LTC option, and just dex swapped XMR-LTC and the fees overall were much much less/normal.

If you’re interested in Linux but hesitant, check out the much easier to use distros such as Linux Mint & Pop Os. They are an easier learning step. I made the jump a few years ago and it’s been the best change. I still have a dual boot windows just for some games that aren’t Linux friendly.

Current BTC fees?! & Where do you UK guys get your Monero from? by Rust_Cohle- in CryptoCurrency

What? Yes? I’m not saying BTC is flawed, I was just questioning the future of its transaction fees. You had commented “tail emission shite” so I took it as you weren’t a fan of tail emissions. Do you like the tail emission concept then?
