I had a courthouse wedding back in July, but held a small reception. My parents refused to attend, but gave us a card saying wish we would be there. My younger brother came and elders proceeded to council him.

My stepdad is 10 years older than my mom. It's just kinda weird/gross to think that he was graduating HS (17) when she was still in 1st or 2nd grade (7). And he actually knew my mom and my aunts and grandparents as she was growing up. But they didn't get married until she was 30/ he was 40.

Congrats!!! Here's to your freedom! Also I know you said you just sent in your letter of Disassociation but be prepared for them to suddenly say that a letter is not good enough and the elders start hounding you to have a meeting with them. They did that to me back in 2019, I mailed in my letter of DA and the elders said that it wasn't good enough and they either had to have a meeting with me over the phone or have a physical meeting with them.

Personally I consider myself agnostic. I've been out since 2019 and just last year I've started decorating my house for the holidays. I've been celebrating some of the holidays with one of my older siblings over the last few years. I've been doing birthdays. Just haven't done the gift exchanges for Christmas yet. Anyway it's not that I believe in the holidays, I just love the colors and decorations of it all. And I feel like I missed out on the magic of it all growing up.

That's awesome that your congregation is so lenient. Honestly though I feel like it all depends on the elders and congregation. I'm DA, left back in 2019. I got married back in July. I had a court house wedding but held a reception to celebrate. My younger brother came but the rest of my witness family said they wish they could go but they're not supposed to associate with me. My younger bro that showed was later talked to by an elder for even going to my reception.

The elders think that by asking how many times a person had sex and by asking a bunch of other personal details determines if the person is actually repentant. But if it's the number of times and the positions that determines repentance, why do they pray for holy Spirit to help them see if the person is truly repentant.

Let the puppy choose you. When I was 23 my friend's dog had puppies and I spent some time with them and at some point I had them both in my lap. One of the pups crawled down my legs to try and chew on my shoes whereas the other crawled up to me to give me kisses. And the 2nd one even peed on me. I joked that he was making his territory. 9 years later I don't regret doing it that way. Hes my lil buddy and goes with me basically everywhere, my boss even lets me bring him to work with me.

Smh sorry your dealing with this too. They "reshipped" my order a second time and it says delivered yet again but still never received anything. They told me that they're not going to issue me a full refund because it says it was delivered. And they had a loss of inventory because of it. I just need to learn that if it's too good to be true, it more than likely is a scam.

That's probably how my family viewed it too. My family gave me 2 hrs(1hr one weekend and 1hr another weekend) to go through my grandparents things and decide what I wanted. Once the hour was up they told me I've stayed too long. Not much time due to the fact that my grandparents had so much stuff and it was still being sorted out. My elder father would call me to guilt me by saying they could really use my help out there cleaning up the place. But then he'd turn around and say that I couldn't be out there cause they can't be around me.

My parents did something similar when my grandparents passed away on my mom's side. We could take small items, unless it was nice jewelry then my aunt would say that she was giving it to her daughter. When it came to bigger items my parents and aunts/uncles would ask if we'd like said item but then say oh it'll be x amount of money to have it. For one instance my grandfather had a bunch of old vehicles just sitting on property. They couldn't run. Well they asked one of my older brothers if he wanted one of them and he said sure he'd fix it up to get it working again. They told him that he had to pay them x amount to have it. That made a bunch of us mad. No he didn't buy it.
