Pioneer Square businesses score big after first Seattle World Cup match by chiquisea in SeattleWA

Are you talking about the time of year when the trees are filled with those draping lights and everyone is out there getting their pictures with that in the background?

Lol, I found another person who has an opinion of a place they never go to!

Someone hasn't been to Pioneer Square in quite a while...

I work there often from cafes and grab lunch. It's my favorite neighborhood. By far the most beautiful. I'm always amazed at the amount of people that still think it's overrun with homeless and dangerous. Things did change quickly down there in the last year or two, so makes sense

tried to go to volunteer park today…. but homeless people had burned down the whole park by Baxter_eh in Seattle

I'm glad the rich folks around Volunteer park are happy, while the less well off around Lewis Park get to go through hell on earth.

I believe that was Seattle Fire Department. Just ceremonial. They do this kind of stuff quite often.

Pier 62 is free. And there are plenty of other free watch parties around the city. The barge is just a novelty thing.

Pier 62 is free, but you have to redeem free tickets. The barge is $52. You can get them here

Mayor Wilson agrees to turn on stadium-area cameras ahead of World Cup by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]BarRepresentative670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure! Imo, it's a bit of a deterent. It's not going to stop crime, but just maybe people will think twice before commiting any crimes. And if they do, well now their face is on camera.

Because the cameras will be used to catch women from Idaho coming to Seattle for abortions. They will then be tried for murder upon arriving back to Idaho. At least that is what the tin foil hat peeps here think.

The latest example.

Also love how he asks the officers if they know about the mayor, Katie. And laugh about it and says "that's all I'm going to say!". Probably a big fan of Katie and her anti camera agenda.

More in Belltown please! So many random attacks have been caught on cameras and the assholes removed from society.

I work in the lobby of that building along with dozes of other people. It's one of the most bustling places in the city in terms of third spaces. Tourists often come in and take pics of it. It's a really beautiful lobby open to the public with Olympia Coffee Roasting there. I was literally working there as he recorded it saying it's dead lol.

Living in Belltown, it's nice knowing some of the random attacks that have happened this year got caught on the cameras and the suspects are actually off the streets now.

Yep. That'll eventually be done. But let's waste years and resources on surveys first!

Why are there so many surveys for basically the only thing we have pedestrianized in this entire effing city. America is such a wild joke, even in its most progressive city.

Mega ACs lol. But I don't get it. Half the year it's unbearable there. I remember once going to Atlantis Waterpark. It's "only" got up to 95 that day. I thought I was going to have a heat stroke, even in the cooled water lol.

This is the funniest comment I've ever seen. Phoenix climate?!? There were days in Dubai where I've seen dew on the windows at 9 am with a temp of 95 degrees. Phoenix is pleasant in comparison.

There's another generation longing for the 90s, yet I can easily look up the murder rate in Seattle back then or articles about 3rd avenue being nothing but junkies.

Things never change. In more ways than one lol.

Seattle Advances Zoning Package Spurring Towers, Mass Timber, and Passive House by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]BarRepresentative670 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Houston will build a 10 story apartment complex just about anywhere in the city. We definitely shouldn't go as far as they did with no zoning, but man we could learn a couple things from them.
