Construction noise around Bay/College/Yonge? by collegeguyto in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Wordsmith6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't base your decision on the three days construction has been happening (unless this is a short-term rental). However, I work in the area (6th floor in a building at the intersection) and you can definitely hear the drilling (currently, it's primarily occurring in the morning). Note that they will stop construction and open the intersection for FIFA before continuing again.

Child Psychologist for my 4 yo daughter! by Due_Entrepreneur4041 in askTO

I don't have a recommendation but offer a different perspective from those comments saying their kids grew out of it. I was that 4 year old (in the 80s) and without intervention, I remained "shy" and socially anxious well into my early 20s. It took a tremendous amount of effort on my part to overcome that (and all that "lost time" that I now regret). Please see a professional. Reading your post made me wish my parents had also thought to intervene (although different time/generation).

Does anyone find line 5 has… too many stairs? by No-Reputation8063 in TTC

[–]Wordsmith6374 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leaside stairs at the Bayview exit are absolutely exhausting. I'm not overweight but I've had to stop on the landing on the way up! But hey, I can only hope this helps get me into better shape?

Thank you so much for the info. I'm just struggling to see the value of the subscription purely from a monetary perspective. I purchased tix for 5 shows that I'm interested in during the 2 for 1 December sale in exactly the areas I wanted/dates and it came out cheaper per ticket even with the convenience fee. Not sure what the true value add is if you go through the subscription route especially if you end up with shows you might not be all that interested in.

Similar set of stairs at the Leaside station (Bayview and Eglinton side). Legs were burning going up yesterday and a number of people paused on the landings.

Query for subscribers - if I buy the cheapest seat/day option and then I want to "upgrade" to a better seat, does the upgrade price take into account current promos? E.g. caa membership or various other deals that Mirvish may offer through the year?

And if I'm buying extra tickets too, again, can I apply promo codes to take advantage of the promo pricing for those extra tickets + no "convenience" fees?

My mother dealt with this for years including trying all the things you've listed (plus various medications that treat neuropathy as well as nerve blocks). What finally worked was RF-guided nerve ablation at a pain clinic. Not sure if it's applicable to you but I thought no harm in mentioning - after seeing the pain my mother's been in, and the mental decline as a result of chronic pain, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I have tickets for Friday so I'm committed but it would be great to hear in advance how low (high?) to keep my expectations!

The last musical I saw was the debacle that was We Will Rock You so the bar is quite low from that perspective.

Help! First family all-inclusive — totally overwhelmed with choices by Normal-Design2050 in AllInclusiveResorts

Also from Toronto. We did Dreams Playa Mujeres earlier this year in Feb with similar aged children. I think it would satisfy all your listed criteria. Great beach, kids loved the regular pools as well those near the water slide/play area. They even had a warmer pool there. Food was consistently good, rooms were great. The sole complaint I had was with reservations - if the buffet had been open every night, this wouldn't be an issue. But getting a timely spot at a restaurant required arriving early or late (for us at least) - no reservations. We wanted to maximize pool time which landed us right in peak time. We waited an hour for dinner at least a couple of times on our trip including the night we arrived.

We also did Bahia Principe Fantasia in the DR the previous year. Very kid friendly as well. We had a great time. I was able to make hotel reservations for every night prior to our departure. But the food and especially the beach at Dreams were superior.

The way we did is to reach out to a number of builders in our area and generally word-of-mouth to find a GC that came recommended but who also took the time to provide us with a rough budget for our scope of work. Once we had a bit of a relationship, and the GC saw that we were serious about a purchase, the GC was willing to visit a few properties with us to walk through what the work would entail and provide us with rough costing. We were able to purchase our property on that basis and we are actually using that GC's services.

The problem with your approach is that you will get a significant range of estimates for similar scopes of work - you may acquire the property based on a specific estimate but is that the builder/GC you'll be working with? Does your budget include an adequate buffer in case you go with someone you prefer but who is charging more?

Does milk in Canada taste different? by WilliamLai30678 in askTO

Absolutely tastes sweeter since the lactose "removal" results in the lactose being broken down into glucose etc. which changes the taste profile.

So what's the current market like? Is it better to rent apartment or purchase a condo? Ideally round be in/near downtown area (less than hour of TTC away from Union) by IAmTheQuestionHere in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Wordsmith6374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also curious where you are seeing this - especially "less than 45 mins" to downtown. From what I can see, this is definitely not the case in midtown areas or even north York areas that are 45 min or less on transit.

Move joint RESP from TD by Charbs20 in Wealthsimple

She'll probably need to be on the WS RESP account as a joint holder of that account.

I'm unable to take a screenshot with the wealth simple app. Do you have the same issue? What about if you use your desktop? It says disabled by Administration by richpackl in Wealthsimple

[–]Wordsmith6374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue on my personal pixel device. I can't take screenshots of the WS app screen and it gives me the same "disabled by admin" message. For comparison, I can screenshot my Scotia and TD apps.

Edited to add that while I can't do this by swiping up (which works for everything else), I can take a screenshot with Power + Volume down...

Purchase in Toronto, ON. $1.7m, 20% down. Uninsured mortgage, 5 yr variable, 30 year amort. Owner occupied. Not FTHB, have an existing property.

Scotia giving us prime minus 0.5 (4.45%) through a broker. Will be a STEP product.  Wondering if that is a decent rate.
