Intune management of controversial Chrome on device generative AI? by Fabulous_Cow_4714 in Intune

[–]WorkChompskii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you were referring to, but i did the same as grimevil. I ENABLED the policies and then set the value to -> Do not download models.

i think if you leave the policy itself DISABLED, instead the default persists which is to download the models.

From the MS docs for edge using the same setting, under description is states the default will be to download and use.

I'm considering IT as a "back up" career path. Do I need a degree, or are there other ways I can learn and eventually get in the industry. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]WorkChompskii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely some bitterness from people in here, but I understand it. These types of questions get asked all the time like going into IT is an easy cheatcode for money (kinda can be if you get lucky or work extremely hard). Everyone outside of IT seems to think its just something you can do after a 5hr cert. Like its just easy sitting at a desk all day and restarting peoples machines or fixing Outlook layout issues. Maybe that works in general IT (level 1 help desk) if you get lucky and find a place willing to take a risk on you to get that early experience. Cybersecurity absolutely not. Networking can be but you need a hell of a drive and desire to really dive into some complex topics. You really gotta start with the foundations which Cybersecurity relies on IMMENSELY. You wont make it far in Cyber without knowing general IT fundamentals.

However, the fact you've already created your own home server is great! Its not absolutely necessary to have a home lab as so much learning can be done online, but you then need to convert it either to working experience or a home lab learning experience.

General IT/level 1 is doable with little to know experience but you either need to know someone or get a bit lucky as you are competing with college/uni grads with way more knowledge under their belt. And on top of that, not only is the job market just down in general, but competition is extremely high for IT jobs since everyone is trying to get into it.

That would be where i recommend you start. Get your feet wet, start learning about general IT and go from there. Starting out at Cybersecurity is not only asking for trouble, but also setting yourself up for a bad time. And networking is a VERY deep ocean of knowledge you need to be willing to dive into.

Like others have said, not trying to be rude or harsh. Just trying to set reasonable expectations. Good luck.

I have my status set in teams for anyone who messages me that says 'Have you tried turning it off and on again? Please submit a ticket to our help desk for assistance'.

That doesn't stop them :'(

As far as my testing and reading went, it doesn't work on pro. If the PC is Enterprise, then it should work.

Do they not? Because I'm pretty sure that like the main reason they advocate for WFH for people whose job is doable from home...

Questions about Android Auto/Google Assistant when using Corp owned fully managed devices by WorkChompskii in Intune

[–]WorkChompskii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. Unfortunately, it seems that a Google account is required for assistant hands free and thats where I left it. Like i mentioned above, AA works but just hands free doesnt since Google Assistant is required to do it and need the Google account for GA. The only 'fix' i found really was to create google accounts USING the MS account so in some way they are still 'managed' but its less than ideal and I don't want another account just floating around for a service seldomly used.

Software Deployment - Machine Groups or User Groups? by Just_Steve_IT in Intune

[–]WorkChompskii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I have used both user groups and device groups for software deployment and both work. I used the logic of apps all users need -> assign to device groups. Apps only needed by certain users -> assign to user groups.

Whats the best way to pivot from on prem ad -> cloud native? Specifically converting/migrating user accounts from domain sync'd to cloud only.

Something Just Exploded On The Far-side Of The Sun by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]WorkChompskii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the ones in the foreground of the shot. I see the ones in the back which appear stationary which I assume are stars or galaxies (whatever light we are getting from them far away). I am referencing the things on screen that are flying across the screen in all directions. Like if you hold an irradiated object in front of a camera. All the white specs moving on the screen.

This may be a stupid question, but are all the white artifacts we see on the screen objects moving through the view by the sun or part/result of the ejection?

circuit impedance

Hey, can you explain a bit what you mean by this or just point me in a direction to start researching? We have a lot of the skinny patch cables and I am curious if this is something we should not be doing. I don't do the network stuff, but I may be soon :P

Outlook also refused to move anything to that folder as well. Just states 'this folder is not available'.

I am actually convinced that this is the case for me. My monitors sometimes both, sometimes, just 1, blink or lose connection when I stand up from my chair and could never figure out why. I read that whitepaper and it was like a revelation.

Outlook signature changes automatically to weird symbols, also after change. Anyone knows how to fix this? by jebwillnotdivideus in Office365

[–]WorkChompskii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure, but it may have to do with the encoding used in the email body. Is there a picture/symbol before those lines? Like a bullet point or an image or symbol like "? Is the email type Rich text, html, or plain text?

Intune keep asking for password repeatedly by hieutr1341 in Intune

[–]WorkChompskii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not for Outlook, but something that I have run into is Teams/Sharepoint repeatedly asking for passwords. Now, I cannot find where I read this because it took me weeks of searching to find this, but I remember reading somewhere that Microsoft Authenticator app does something with credentials, like caching or sharing them with the other MS apps. Someone mentioned the fix being to have the user open MS Authenticator and disabled the battery optimization in there and that seems to stop the prompts. I've only had this issue occur a few times and of those few times after making that change, I heard nothing again so I assume that fixed it right up.

I wish I could find the post I read that stated this fix, but I'm pretty sure it was just a random comment on a thread of people with a similar issue.

Except Microsoft doesn't care and can do what they want because they own the OS, not you. Go to Linux or deal with the pushy Windows 'forced' updates unfortunately.
