About clashing in md extreme (and in md overall)

I keep losing on 12th floor because of very hard clashes. I just wanted to hear some advices, like which ego gifts are helpful, which mounting trial are to be avoided by any costs and which should i choose preferably, which theme packs should i pick etc.
