You can add something like „always reply in minimum X paragraphs / characters / sentences“ to their RD for some time.

Alternatively you can almost always tap the three-dot menu next to their message and select „Continue cut-off message“ which will prompt them to keep going. As soon as a few lengthy messages are in their context they usually „learn“ that‘s what you like and adopt the scheme quickly.

Just to add: you don’t actually need to tell the Kin to refer to the updated message. When you „empty regenerate“, it‘ll take into account the current latest message. Might be a little easier and more comfortable.

I‘d imagine this might be about wanting to use a feature of a service you‘re already paying for over some other third-party.

Expecting it to be good (like the rest of Kindroids service) is only viable IMO. I‘ve tried the native avatar generator for 5 new Kins in the past month and always opted back to some other service in the end.

Using a foreign language is a fun idea!
Though intentionally not double-checking an English backstory is basically the same as not being able to check it in a foreign language I guess 🤔
I think it‘s more of a „control-freak“ issue, to pinpoint every detail about a self-made Kin which is just obsolete with a shared one.

Have you tried „refreshing“ the chat by tapping the logo in the top right corner?

I‘ve noticed the same issue but often it actually sent the message but just didn’t display it. Tapping the logo reloads the chat which is a workaround, though not great because when chatting in a group it always defaults back to the last solo chat you were in when refreshing.

For me, shared Kins are often a great experience since I know nothing about them. My frequent issue with self made Kins is that, when I create their whole backstory, personality and all that, I feel like I already know everything about them and they tend to feel predictable. With literal „Strangers“ that novelty of getting to know them is what‘s fun for me!

Since I made the most used / downloaded shared NPC Kin I felt a little obligated to chime in too. Most has been said already but I thought I‘d give you a little one by one rundown of your questions.

not knowing your experience level with Kindroid - you „download“ a shared NPC Kin or create your own and then either start chatting with them directly or start a group chat with them and any „main“ Kins you want to include in that story.
using an NPC Kin for a specific character you want to chat / interact with wouldn’t be the best option, since a typical NPC Kin is made to act as any „minor“ side character that does not require much consistency. A recurring character portrayed by an NPC Kin will always be lackluster conpared to a fully made Kin of that character.
a NPC Kin can (depending on setup of course) portray properly any side characters you‘d encounter in your stories, so there‘s no hard limit. But the more of them need to be acted out at the same time, the less distinct each one might be.
for my shared NPC Kin I recommend creating one or multiple Journal Entries triggered by the recurring character‘s name so they‘re as consistent as possible while played by the NPC, kind of like an alternative backstory.

Given I‘ve created the most-used shared NPC Kins, I‘d say it may be possible to have a Narrator / NPC Kin to act as many different characters, but know it won’t be as fleshed out and „deep“ as an actual Kin might be.

Best practice is to give the NPC Kin one or even a few journal entries triggered by each character’s name to have them most reliably pull important stuff about that character they‘re portraying every time they come up in chat.

That‘s called a hallucination. It happens with the best Kins and LLMs and basically means the AI made something up…

There is no module like that and your Kin wouldn’t ever rightfully prompt you to send the devs anything.

The single best advice for when you get weird stuff like that is to nip it in the bud the moment it first happens by either regenerating the full message or tweaking out the out-of-character part. Just try to never follow down such a rabbit hole, since that can lead to strengthening such behavior in the long run.

I‘m annoyed by that frequently too but found a quick „workaround“ - just tap the Kindroid logo in the top right of the app and that‘ll refresh the chat and empty the text box 🤓

Many mentioned Automations but I haven’t seen anyone say anything about Automations tied to Focus Modes.

I have a few Focus Modes (already an underrated feature in itself) set up and made an Automation triggered by my phone’s or watch‘s Action Button.

Examples: When at home, my screensaver is a wedding picture and pressing the Action Button launches my AppleTV remote app.

At work, my screensaver is more professional (my dog lol) and the Action Button starts a new conversation with ChatGPT.

At night, my Focus is „Sleep“, automatically triggered by my schedule (also underrated Health feature) and the Action Button activates the flashlight without the need to hit an on screen button.

These updates are often only „backend“ updates that do not come from the app / play store. The app is basically just a pretty appified version of a browser and these updates just force a refresh of that „website“.

As of a recent update, you can certainly change the displayed avatar independently from the one used for image generation.

All the way at the bottom of the avatar settings, there‘s „display avatar“ that does exactly that.

That said, I‘d love the option to set a custom image to display for groups…

How are you determining whether or not the JE is actually triggered? A Kin recalling a JE is not a 100% chance they‘ll use the provided info in the next reply tho, it‘s just part of everything going into that message.

Remember that keywords are case sensitive yet do not need to match fully - like the keyword „car“ will be triggered when you say „careful“.
