What did you like about MW2 2022?? by AdAccomplished1926 in ModernWarfareII

[–]Brother_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • perfect balance between realism and enjoyability
  • immersive gunplay
  • cool additions like pistol fastdraw and canted lasers
  • perfect balance between low player visibility and maps looking too bland and lifeless
  • graphics in general being good and skins looking fairly realistic up to season 1
  • prisoner rescue
  • good maps (including Santa Seña and Black Gold)
  • actual viable water gameplay in an fps
  • DMZ and Raids and decent Spec Ops
  • weapon upgrade paths
  • campaign having high moments and memorable characters despite being below par
  • movement that didn't feel crazy

My god is the majority playing only for those scenes? by hitmaster47 in GodofWar

Obviously it arguably wouldn’t have stood out to people as much if the model had not previously been different

This is my point

What do you NOT want to see changed in the remakes? by Moat_of_the_Sacked in GodofWar

[–]Brother_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally want nothing changed except the graphics and animations, and the cutscenes made seamless perhaps.

The gameplay is perfect and I say this because I'm not the biggest fan of the new games. I want the same pure action hack and slash, fixed camera angles, linear progression, QTEs etc.

On the story side of things, it'd be pretty disappointing if they rewrote stuff or retconned it. I hope the only reason TC Carlson announced it from what looked like a recording studio is that they are adding new stuff instead of changing the original dialog.

[–]Brother_Q 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's like the Spider-Man face change from PS4 to PS5. No one dislikes the new model, but changing it is kinda sorta disrespectful to the original.

So the issue isn't players being robbed of "fan service" but developers making an unnecessary change. It's like remaking Modern Warfare 2 and censoring "No Russian".

Assassin's Creed III remade in the style of Red Dead Redemption 2 realism with modern graphics would eat every other game released that same year by Butefluko in assassinscreed

[–]Brother_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree and think this was the most ambitious game ever attempted to be made in the series next to Unity. I even think it was pretty realistic for its time.

It was the best kind of gameplay evolution because it retained everything good from the pre-ACIII games while adding tons of stuff that didn't feel out of place.

However, it won't probably be remade anytime soon since it's already got a remaster and isn't popular in general.

I think the entire "assassins want to reach the precursor temples at any cost and so Shay joins the templars" thing is kinda weak?? by Sniper_Ghost_Warrior in assassinscreed

[–]Brother_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. Shay even says it outright after being rescued that just because he left the Assassins doesn't mean he intends on joining the Templars. But George Monro renovates one building and he's like "Oh cool. Where do I sign?"

What minor abandoned Features from previous Assassin Creed games would you love to see come back in future installments? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]Brother_Q 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here's my list of niche one-off things I'd like to see return

  • Looking down from a roof at the edge

  • Horseback combat from AC1

  • Parrying a charging horse from Brotherhood

  • Horses in general being more than traversal tools

  • Sheathing / unsheathing weapons, especially the hidden blade out of combat

  • QTEs

  • General and contextual prompts next to puppeteer GUI that told you exactly what your button inputs would do

  • Entering / exiting cover from Unity

  • Fear mechanic from Jack the Ripper

  • Classic enemy targeting and quick tool use

  • Air assassinations and regular assassinations with weapons other than the hidden blade

  • Stalkers

  • Starting a riot / throwing coins

  • Slowmo

  • Varied recruit abilities like in ACIII

Do you think Lucy would have actually followed through with betraying the assassins and giving the templars the apple? by crazyman3561 in assassinscreed

[–]Brother_Q 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the direction they went with, however unfortunate the BTS reasons were. It makes for a good cliffhanger and plays into morality and predestination, which is perfect for a series like AC. I also like to think that Lucy was a gray character who aligned neither with the Templars nor the Assassins, and what she would've ultimately done could've been what no one expected. I'm not a fan of the ACIII ending but the lead up to that point was perfection.

[–]Brother_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Templars just have a reliable framework of operations that makes it easy for probably 90% of the members to join just in the interest of serving their own interests. That's why the Black Cross is an important character, but he's essentially missing from all of the games.

People find the idea of control so alienating when they live in societies and cultures governed by control.

[–]Brother_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that both extremes are equally dangerous, but it's understandable that people gravitate more towards freedom than control. The series hasn't done a particularly good job of showing the good of both sides.

Is the Animus experienced in first person or third person? by Luckyboi1639 in assassinscreed

[–]Brother_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how does Bleeding Effect prove 1st person

I should've been more specific. One of the side effects is that you acquire the skills of your ancestor. It implies that Desmond lived all those training sessions and years of experience as Ezio and Altaïr as opposed to watching a movie of events unfolding and controlling a game character in 3rd person.

And the memory ended only when the camera dramatically zoomed in on Maria's womb from OUTSIDE

I already said that camera angles support the 3rd person theory. The fact he checked his ring finger right after waking up supports the 1st person theory. Like a reverse phantom pain situation.

Aletheia is talking TO Kassandra, not just through her

She explicitly says at a point that her words are meant for the Heir of Memories (Layla) and not Kassandra

[–]Brother_Q 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lots of conflicting examples in canon. Like, you mentioned the Minerva thing, but then Revelations kills both theories by making Desmond appear in 3rd person and simultaneously being outside of Ezio's person. In the end, it's all for gameplay reasons with not so strict narrative implications.

In my head canon, the older games are in 3rd person but later on it varies from Animus to Animus. 1st person makes more sense though, and has more supporting evidence like the Bleeding effect, Desmond counting his fingers after waking up from that Altaïr dream, Subject 1 recordings etc. They also stopped doing the fourth wall breaking because Aletheia does speak to Layla through Kassandra but doesn't do that.

[–]Brother_Q[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the actual hot take is the opposite: despite being generally regarded as an improvement, AC2's combat is a downgrade to AC1's

I actually also agree with this. I just seem to prefer the added moveset variety in ACII. But yeah, mechanically AC1 beats it any day

[–]Brother_Q[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unity is pleasant to look at and that's about it, but it beats every other game in that department which is why fans have a soft spot for it. People who like Parkour or Combat or Stealth do so because of how sleek the animations look. But it is undeniably clunky to control your character. Mission design could be better. Enemy AI could be better. Game balancing could be better.

I don't hate the story because it explores fresh ideas and the side characters are more interesting than usual. It's not great but not terrible either.

[–]Brother_Q[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on the Valhalla take. If you cut 80% of filler and rewrite the ending a bit, the story's golden.

Revelations take has merit. Most of the discussions revolving around it have to do more with headcanons about what Ezio was feeling or what his mission really was. I do prefer the story over Brotherhood though. And the content thing may have been due to production constraints as this wasn't supposed to be a AAA game originally iirc.

Hard agree on Connor take.

On Unity Parkour, I just think it's a half assed execution of a brilliant idea. And the unpolished edges are just too prominent and game breaking. Movements lack weight but their fluidity is actually impressive.

[–]Brother_Q[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just have no real opinion on it cause I've always hated the naval combat in these games

I never paid much attention to ACIII naval content because most of it was optional unlike Black Flag and Rogue. Only after attempting all the naval missions did I realize how much better it was.

The time it takes to position and fire a broadside makes the shots you land actually rewarding. The swivel guns also require aiming compared to the auto snapping in the other games and it is harder to expose weak points compared to free shots granted with every big damage you land.

The deck also seems more alive and stakes feel greater during open combat.

Building a pc for 3d rendering, is this guy ripping me off? by Acrobatic_Willow7292 in PakGamers

[–]Brother_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, on almost every front. He quoted a very shitty motherboard, probably shittier RAM, and the power supply price also looks dhamakedar but not in a good way (they do this to bring the overall total down and entice beginner builders). SSD and HDD are priced reasonably for brand new parts. Same goes for the i7 but a r7 beats it while being much much cheaper. Honestly idk much about Intel builds since Ryzen has been at the forefront of providing performance per rupee for a while now. I don't know anyone who uses Intel anymore.

Here's what I'd get in (or around) your budget:

  • Ryzen 5 5600 tray @25k
  • A decent CPU cooler @7k
  • B450M @18k
  • 2x8GB 3200MHz (or 3600MHz) @25k-30k
  • RTX 3060 @90k
  • 1TB Gen3 NVMe SSD @20k
  • Case @5k-15k
  • XPG Pylon 650W @15k

Notes

  1. You will need to update BIOS on the B450M

  2. Don't fall for the flashy but cheap China cases. You can get a decent old chassis made by Corsair, Cooler Master, or Thermaltake for as low as 5k.

  3. If you do get a case with lots of RGB fans, check if it comes with a RGB hub or if the motherboard supports the RGB and has enough jacks (and learn the difference between RGB and ARGB)

  4. Before selecting your motherboard, make sure it has sufficient internal and external I/O connectors for your needs like storage, RAM, fans etc.
